so now china should say they will defend NK if USA attacks them

No they wont. Its all just bravado, America is to far in Chinas pocket financialy to do anything about it.

The United States is bound by our treaty with Japan world war 2 to defend Japan in the event of war because Japan is not allowed to have an army (per united states agreement), only a defense force.

U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey told reporters in Beijing on Wednesday on the last day of his trip to China that he had reminded Chinese officials of U.S. obligations to Japan.

"Our position is that we don't take a position on territorial issues. In the case of Japan in particular, however, I was careful to remind them that we do have certain treaty obligations with Japan that we would honor," he said.

anyway, Dempsey said this last Wednesday during his visit to Beijing.

The US has no choice, they have swarn to defend Japan if they are attacked. It was part of the world war 2 peace treaty I think.

Because Japan can not have an attacking army.

I think that's it, the americans will know this bit of history better.
