I am just your average American, with no political aspirations, but according to you if I or my children were elected to high political office, our election would be automatically illegitimate. My family has been here since the 1620s - I am pretty sure that I would find the same bloodlines. (Plus I'm pretty sure my husband's lines would tie in with Van Buren.) It's like when the Genelogists say every european has to be a descendant of Charlemagne, since he had so many children. Go a couple centuries later to the Kings of England, and you can probably say just about every person of british stock has some relation to the Norman kings. |
