As a precaution, as of 1100 today, 3 May, I am ordering a mandatory evacuation of Santa Rosa housing, 3rd section, at Point Mugu. Because of reduced visibility, Las Posas Gate will close shortly to outbound traffic. All personnel should depart via Gate 1/Main Gate Main Road. Quoting: CowgirlK Personnel and families in other sections of base housing on Point Mugu may execute a voluntary evacuation utilizing the Main Gate for outbound traffic. Fleet and Family Services are awaiting your arrival, should you choose to stay at Port Hueneme at Building 267, enter Sunkist Gate and right on Salsa Street. I want to be clear, this is a precautionary measure, we have several firefighters and emergency personnel on scene, we have air assets that will be arriving shortly. As a retired wildland firefighter, I know what kind of danger these fires bring, but it is just that. A wildland fire that is threatening homes and personal property. No need to throw volcanoes and wild speculation into the equation. ok.... why aren't they using the water dropping planes-LIKE THEY ALWAYS DO EVERYWHERE ELSE IN SO CAL? can't be the wind...it's only 9mph. Well it seems strange that I have seen LIVE video of the tankers and helicopters making drops on this fire. |

IT'S A FREAKING VOLCANO!!!!!! MAYBE THIS IS WHY THEY WONT USE THE SUPER SOAKER WATER DUMPING PLANES BECAUSE THEY DONT WANT AN EXPLOSION!!!! and there were earthquakes north of malibu last thursday. i think the volcano is waking up.  There is so much bullshit in this post it's not even amusing. It was very hot yesterday - even around 90 in downtown LA. It was very windy yesterday in particular where the fires are.
