Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31069228 I understand what you are saying and it is indeed a good point but most nerdy scientific types have the intention to do good with their works. I believe that the entire system is way too compartmentalized, rigid, and specialized. In my opinion the entire education system needs to be reduced into only 5 really important and general categories as to promote fluidity and cohesiveness. For example we do not need history class. The past needs to be forgotten so we can move forward. Now the Zoverlord might present the dilemma how does one define "good" or "bad" because he fancies himself some sort of dark knight uber-philosopher. Look up Charles manson and you will see where the overlord is coming from. I am currently pursuing a physics major at my university and the professors are usually always open minded to new ideas. They definitely don't ever have any intention of harming another human being but when you over-compartmentalize the outcome could be dangerous for humanity. The perfect example is the manhattan project which developed the nuclear bomb. Control of institutions exists despite the best intentions of instructors. Designed control of all institutions is a systems-approach based upon systems science. Instructors are pawns that can only operate in an ordered system--the chessboard. There is also an ordering system in Nature, the study of which is true science. Nothing exists outside of it. Compartmentalization retards the learning process, which is why we have so many retarded scientists looking for a smaller and smaller particle, building bigger and bigger accelerators. This equates to trying to find a finite end to Pi. LOL. Shit makes me laugh. Yeah I want you to look up the Fibonacci sequence on youtube. It shows what you are describing. It is really interesting, simple, and beautiful. Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm already familiar with it. Yeah I figured you would be. Most physics professors are fascinated by fractals. It is like nerd porn. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 36520082 United States 05/12/2013 01:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Science can absolutely be used to advance humankind, there is no doubting this. If we could develop free, clean and renewable energy and eliminate waste without polluting the environment, I'm all for it. But people who claim science has been the greatest gift to humankind are highly mislead. The invention of the lightbulb alone has completely disrupted our natural way of life. Now everything is open 24/7, people are overworked, our sleep patterns are all messed up, we've become addicted to the television and little electronic devices that do our thinking for us. Not to mention science has contributed to the creation of some of the most gruesome killing machines in the world, making us no better than hairless apes. So with all due respect OP, I disagree that without science we would be hairless apes, as I think we are worse than hairless apes right now when we cannot even get along with our fellow human being. The potential for science is amazing, but it has fallen into the hands of people who care little about anyone but themselves. This world could absolutely be heaven on earth if we used science for the benefit of all. Also yeah, the A bomb was a great invention! |

WHile the schools teach socialist propaganda and that homosexuality is perfectly fine, ass sex is normal and there is no God. That is the dream of the liberal right? Whatever makes you feel good, do it. Just bury the consequences at all costs and keep feeding the sheep ridiculous BS." you know a lot less people have children these days because of the problems the liberal ideals present. I saw a study which showed the world was actually drastically reducing in population maybe that is ultimately the intended effect. |

It makes absolutely no difference because this life is a total illusion, as is your self, science, "other people," "your" experiences, etc. It just does not matter. So don't bother. Simply carry on and take it in because you're just passing through. |

Is comet ison this neutron star? Is there a blue celestial object as well? As foretold in the Hopi legend? Will the reality of this be revealed may 15? When the world is aware of its imminent destruction? Is this the awakening? |

These scientists are doing their best with the information available. I do see folly in their toil because they do not have all the information that would influence their paradigm. What if it was not their responsibility to ensure the survival of their species? What if this circumstance of destruction of the human race is inevitable? Sure, we may travel from planet to planet over millions of years escaping destruction, but over the course of time, the probability is overwhelming that the human race will cease to exist. And considering your multiple universe theory, this must be true, that survival of the human race is futile. Then what? We all return to singularity? All of this toil and work of man to ensure its own survival apart from the essential knowledge of a divine holy God is pointless. Meaningless. Everything is meaningless under the sun. Then what? I see no other option but to submit to God in humility. Even you 0verlord have not considered all of the options. If you have, you would consider the option of God. |
