That's the question Buddha asked. Insofar as Buddhism has a message, it's not about "what" is true, whether it's that there is a god or not, or whether x or y is right, or that him or her is just. It's that we should be truth-seekers. We should be objective. We should clear our minds.

Buddha was born in India, not China. The religion of Buddhism came out of India. I will pay my respects by preparing an India food feast today.

I bought acrylics and needed to get some experience with color mixes and using brushes and things so I thought ornaments would be cool. I might post here again with a picture of it. It was my first attempt, especially with human skin color. Happy Birthday Buddha.

What is 'truth' from the buddhist point of view? Is there a code or anything to follow, like what is given in the Bible?

That depends which Buddhist you ask. If you are a Zen Buddhist like me, there's no truth of that sort that Buddhism aims to teach. The point of Buddhism, according to Chan and Zen teachings, is merely to return the mind to its natural objectivity, and thereby gain personal freedom, joy, friendship, and the like. Those who have attained this state of mental clarity - nirvana - then record what they learn over the course of their life. Those of us seeking mental clarity learn from their lessons and experiences. Hence why much Buddhist literature takes the form of stories.

If you are interested in reading any Buddhist texts of this sort, I recommend the 5-volume collection of Buddhist classics, translated by Thomas Cleary. He also has a 4-volume collection of Taoist works. You can buy each volume for about $20 and they are each packed full of original Buddhist works. Each volume is about 500 pages, for a total of about 2500 pages of incredible insight.

Last I checked, Christians were commanded to do one thing: love. Passing judgment is not the province of Christians, but of Christ. I suggest you reflect on your own religion, be it today or any other day, and on the extent to which you're practicing it.
