Ellis' police dog was not with him. Police have no suspects in custody. An active search continues for the person or persons responsible for Ellis' death. Ambushed from a hilltop with 12 gauge "I can assure you we won't give up on this person or persons until we either have them in custody or in the front sight of one of our weapons," McCubbin said during a Saturday afternoon news conference. "I certainly hope the latter is the choice." Ellis, a former professional baseball player with Cincinnati Reds farm teams in Sarasota, FL and Billings, MT, leaves a wife and two young sons. Ambushed from a hilltop with 12 gauge Just read an update on this... It was premeditated apparently. Police: Officer Jason Ellis' murder was premeditated Police say the shooting was an ambush and that Ellis was shot several times but never had time to respond or remove the gun from his holster. "Someone planned this and someone planned to shoot somebody in that location at that exact time," Chaffins said. Police believe Ellis' murder was premeditated because of the debris that was on Exit 34 Saturday morning. They say someone intentionally placed the debris on that stretch of roadway so that a driver would have to stop their car, get out and unknowingly become the target of the shooter. Police are still not sure if Ellis was the intended target or if the shooter planned to shoot the first person to pick up the debris. Officers say the fact that this act was so senseless and so random makes it that much harder to cope with the tragedy. This was on wkyt.com news |

Ambushed from a hilltop with 12 gauge What an amazing display of heart felt support was shown today for the life of Jason Ellis & his family. Thousands showed their last respects to not only a wonderful police office but a wonderful husband & father. Our hearts are broken. How could this happen? Who could do this? |

Ambushed from a hilltop with 12 gauge Multiple operators tracked him, probably for weeks, got his routine down, followed him on the night of the hit, communicating with cell phones, and took him out. Probably other corrupt cops in the area know exactly why and who killed him. |

Ambushed from a hilltop with 12 gauge I know. He's been retired. He was given to the wife and his two sons, ages 6 and 7. Been trying to find something nasty about him that would help explain why he was killed. He seems to be a good one. Too few good ones. Let's give him karma pin. |

Ambushed from a hilltop with 12 gauge I was thinking it was prolly Joe Biden. All he ever talks about is shotguns & laws...better check his schedule and see if he has an alibi during that time. He probably has a house there by the off ramp and just fired his double barrel out the window as a warning. Didn't mean to hurt anybody. |

The media will say it was a long rifle. The AR-15 Bushwacker which was the same type used in the Sandy Hook tragedy. |

They could hand the case over to the detectives who investigated Dick Cheney's "incident" and they would call it a hunting accident and close the case. |

Ambushed from a hilltop with 12 gauge I drove past that exit on the parkway a few hours before it happened. I was headed towards Etown Ky. Everywhere I went the following day it was all everyone was talking about. On the way back I saw at least 15 cop cars at the exit where he was ambushed. I'm curious to find out why this happened. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68118 15 cop cars?? Whao wow weee...must have been a white cop! |

Empathy is one thing...but, you're taking things a bit too far. What is wrong with crying for someone you don't know? This thread should stay alive, because anytime an officer is killed it is big news. If someone is capable of killing a police officer, they are a danger to all of society. My Dad happened to be a cop, most of my family and friends growing up were cops and cops kids. I was surrounded by cops and they are some of the greatest people in the world..everyone hates them until they need them. It is a job, these men do it because it pays well and provides a good stable career, retirement, and insurance. My Dad used to work in the sawmill, when he started to work for the California Highway Patrol we finally made ends meat. Most cops are not the whole "Kid who got bullied" that people portray them as..They are family men. RIP officer, I pray to the Good Lord above that this sicko who killed you is caught. |
