Was Another Earth any good? it's worth a watch imo |

Really strange twist at the end that makes the whole movie worth it. Boy goes in search of God, tries out being a muslim, a buddhist, etc. Says he's looking everywhere. Finally, well you'll have to see it to understand it. And of course there is Robert Loggia, he's superb. I love Wide Awake.. That was either his first? Or right after Stewart Little <3 ... I enjoyed it more then though becuase I didnt hate Rosie yet lol Wide Awake was his second movie, directed and written by him. A year before 6th Sense came out. I also liked 6th Sense, Signs, The Devil, Lady in the Water, Unbreakable, and I thought The Last Airbender was an interesting start to a trilogy and didn't suck as bad as people said. In my opinion though, The Village sucked, The Happening was HORRIBLE, and without seeing it I already know After Earth is going to suck but I'd watch it once anyway. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1667343 United States 06/03/2013 01:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I agree. Sad to say, but Smiths child, who was in the movie, could not act to save his live. Stuttered, not very clear when speaking (like he had marbles in his mouth), seemed like a newbie. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3558872 I hope WWZ is better... After Earth was a MAJOR let down. Save your money, and wait for video... I think WWZ will be better -- they 'reshot' half of the film because they had to throw so much footage away once they canned the first director. I am not sure it will be 'great' but... it will be better. So far most movies have been disappointing lately, however I will say that Gangster Squad was *really* good. Kind of an old-timey batman feel with punisher type of vengeance. Dark Skies was an utter disappointment. Its like the only thing that guy can do is paranormal activity, so he did it again, but called it 'aliens' instead of 'demons'. Seriously. Oblivion was fairly boring, though the acting was good. Jack Reacher was pretty good, I can definitely see myself watching that again. And the Arnold Schwarzeneggar movie, The Last Stand, was surprisingly entertaining. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1667343 United States 06/03/2013 01:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | M. Night Shyamalan jumped the shark a while ago imho. In fact, I don't think he's had a good movie since The Village, and even that one is debatable. I don't know why producers still fund his projects. Hell, they did everything they could to NOT let it be common knowledge that he was the director of this film. Quoting: Dr. Astro I enjoy the atmosphere of his movies more than anything. The Happening was full of cheese but it was fun, and quiet. I think thats it.. The peaceful quality of his stories. Devil was fun too.. and Signs is in my top 10. Signs is my favorite. Lady In The Water is also very good -- oince you realize that the story came from a bedtime tale he would tell his children every night that he decided to turn into a movie. THEN it makes sense. Wish it would have been marketed that way -- too many people went in expecting a horror-type of tale instead. I enjoyed The Village and The Happening, however I enjoyed it in spite of itself. |

They also say it's just a blatant propaganda film for Scientology. How so? Not very familiar with their beliefs... For starters, the film's tagline is, "Danger is Real, Fear is a Choice". That second part is taken straight from Scientology. Not to mention heavy volcano imagery, the premise of emotion is the enemy, and Wil Smith is a scientologist (although he tries very hard to hide that fact). There are plenty of other things in the movie as well. Just look it up. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 40051105 Prove it. I just remember that I promised myself never watch movies directed by him, I forgot why but I believe it was the lack of culminations in his films, much stirring, much holding back, much dullness and so on, he doesn't have any "edge" and so on. I never felt like this when watching the cool work of other directors. (JJ Abrams, Ang Lee, R Scott, you name it) Ok, he may have put right the "Signs" but that's it, he just doesn't "have it" like the talented directors, it's an economic suicide to let him direct sf movies, he's got water in his veins or something. lol |
