Firstly, if we can't NOT choose something without penalty of death, we have no free will. I don't care if there's ONE stipulation and one only, free will can only exist if there is no threat for a wrong action. Otherwise it's not real because we are coerced or blackmailed into choosing one path or another.

Secondly, you just did it again, you put down your own power, that we all have. This is what religion does it makes us give up our own power and strength unwittingly not realizing or understanding who or what we are giving it up to and for what purpose. We need to wake up and take it back.

Most atheists miss the point that we all have broken the law. If a man rapes a woman and says to the judge "I have treated many women kindly, I know your a loving judge, please let me off", there would be an outcry if the judge did so.

Similarly, God must judge our sins and the penalty for sin is death---it tends to destroy worlds, you see---everyone has had a part in creating this tragic polluted world whether they choose to be honest about it or not.

Love is not love without perfect justice---think about that. We have been brainwashed into believing in a santa clause hippy God who just loves in a syrupy way!

Again, arrogance and rebellion has kept the atheists, new age sorcerers ETC from the truth.

Finally, God never puts anyone in hell---we put ourselves there in our arrogance and rebellion---FACT.

There is a HUGE difference.

I read yours and possibly misinterpreted it. So, I'll put the question out to OP.

I'd be happy to respond as well, since it does appear that you misinterpreted it.

In this life we are born into a world under the jurisdiction of Satan. It's a nasty place for the most part, though some glimpses of heaven can be seen at times.

We are offered a choice, between staying in Satan's realm forever, or moving our citizenship to God's realm forever.

It's our choice alone. As someone once said, the door to hell is locked from the inside. If you're a good person but don't want to spend eternity with God, then God will give you what you want.

I Like number 7 the most.. Im a fellow beleiver but do not enjoy people pushing their views upon others. And I also dislike the awful christian music...

At this point in my life, it is becoming more apparent that consciousness seems to be the language and driving force in the universe. Our history is one of constant discovery and evolution in the understanding of this consciousness. It also seems that we have an image of God that is created more from our image than our image in his likeness. I have no idea if there is a hell or not. I hope and tend to believe there is not.

Depending on the translation, there is disagreement as to whether Jesus was born God or if he fine tuned his consciousness to that of God through his life. To me it doesn't matter. His is a path I try to follow. I've read Gospels that were deemed to dangerous to be in the Bible and try to incorporate them into my life as well.

I've also looked at other religions and they seem to be geared towards raising our consciousness as well. Who are we to judge his creation? Who are we to say who goes to hell? I for one have faith in God but not in my understanding of him. One of my favorite lines that I ever read is that if you develop an image of God do your best to destroy it. We should do this because our imperfect consciousness can't possibly fathom what God truly is.

The nature of everything is probably so far beyond our wildest beliefs. I for one look forward to the journey of my consciousness after death and the level of the understanding and freedom that my soul may be blessed with. This stage is one governed by limitation. You can't survive if you don't take a breath. You die without food or water. I can't wait to be free of these chains. I hope to see ALL of you on the other side. If you are religious, spiritual, or even atheist I hope you get the chance to be your higher self.

You're a good dad, I bet they respect your views a lot more for the fact that they were allowed to choose theirs as you chose yours too.

I've felt for a long time that kids should not be forcefed any religion, but allowed to make their own choice as they are able to do so. Kudos to you for being one of the few to have the courage to allow yours that.

Saying that we have no real free will because the choice is salvation, eternal life or hell is like saying to a child---you have free will to behave or end up in jail one day----your reasoning is faulty---this life is a life of grace so that you may make the right choice, not a pleasure ride that you have been conned into believing by commerce and advertising!

What happens when 'the truth is revealed' or 'when god speaks to you' and all these other wonderful things we keep hearing about? Because frankly all I see is a world of shit and hateful people and a new system of debt and currency slavery taking an ever firmer hold, and no matter how much I pray and try to seek an understanding or answer or just a fucking HINT, nothing happens. Not a thing. Nothing. This world is evil and hateful and dark, and so are the churches once they know your sins. They don't preach forgiveness, they preach 'become one of us'. And no matter how much we pray and plead and change our lives and know we are terribly corrupt, we get no answers.

So what's the magic word? What's the special stance or the hidden rite or whatever has you all so convinced that the truth has been illuminated and you see the world so differently now? Because some of us work daily for that answer in the best way we know how and we are still left just talking to ourselves in the dark.

Jesus is awesome. If everyone was more like him the world would rock. I'm certain he loves us and I would love to cruise around the desert doing good works with him, forsaking this material world entirely for a life of deeds. But what do you do when he doesn't answer? And not just doesn't answer, but never even lets on you have been heard?

o.k. so let me get this straight.... let's say i'm a buddhist who lives a life of compassion, helping others, comforting the sick and dying, doing good whenever possible, being honest in my dealings with others, treating others as i would want to be treated, etc, etc..... and now.... because i haven't "ACCEPTED JESUS", i am going to be separated from God for all eternity, and made to suffer never-ending unspeakable torture....

BUT... some sick fuck who rapes, kills, tortures, whatever, only has to ask jesus to forgive them and... BAM... they are basking in eternal bliss, like nothing ever happened....

I, again, humbly disagree. I do not believe in heaven or hell, as I have my own beliefs about the afterlife. Although, I do respect your beliefs and will not argue it or ridicule it. It's a PERSONAL decision and comes from the heart.

My feelings align with pantheism/deism. I read your comments. The part where you suggest there's only 2 options when a person dies? So the individual who has never harmed anyone in his/her entire life will go to the same 'place' as Hitler if he/she does not accept the blood sacrifice that 'God' had to offer us in order to save us from the 'hell' that he created due to the 'original sin' that he orchestrated with his poisonous tree and talking serpent?

Or the part where you do not recognize that 'satan' was never a real entity in the first place but a mythological metaphor that was created by MAN to represent the lower mind (the carnal mind of the physical flesh). All of the attributes and human traits associated with the lower mind were assigned to 'satan' and this image was used to symbolically represent the other half of the same reoccuring theme of Good vs. Evil / Light vs. Darkness that pervades all mythological stories/fables/tales dating back to antiquity? Look up the term 'anthropomorphization' and its common utilization throughout history during the times where the majority of the population was illiterate and therefore could not read or write nor comprehend advanced intellectual concepts.

You know what's weird - 'God' is alleged to be omnipotent, yet he permits and allows 'satan' to have dominion over Earth and according to believers, to torment & trick/lure/deceive as many of 'God's children' away from him and ultimately into 'hell' as possible.. So the all powerful 'God' could just smite 'satan' whenever he pleases, but instead he gives him a free pass to take as many of you away from him as he can?? These are the actions of an all-loving & all-powerful perfect 'God'? If your children were at home and your house was broken into by a raging lunatic are you going to sit back and hide and allow the perpetrator free reign of your house and to potentially kidnap and steal your children from you? Or would you call the police and intervene immediately to fight back and protect your children from being harmed since it was within your power/ability to do so and because you love them more than anything in the world and you're their protector? How about this - if YOU rebel from 'God', you go to 'hell' when you die, when 'satan' rebels from 'God', he gets his own planet/world to reign over and to do as he pleases and to live like a king. How's that for divine justice?

I guess my standards must be above those of the 'God' that is presented to us because I would NEVER allow my children to be tormented by a thug if I had the power & authority to stop it and I will NEVER condone nor accept a blood sacrifice under any conditions because doing so would violate my moral integrity. I suppose I'll be joining Hitler in 'hell' for not lowering my standards & morals to those of 'God' and for not accepting his blood sacrifice to spare me from the punishment that he created.

You might find some of what I've been saying to the atheists helpful. Basically, it's that we live in a world run by Satan, so we should be surprised when good things happen.

But I also completely relate to what you're saying about what many Christians apparently experience. Yet though I can guarantee that I'm saved and have a close relationship with my Savior, I have never been in the rarefied air of the pentacostals or hyper-emotionalism of what I call spiritual thrill-seeking. (Not to bash those who go for that, just saying it isn't what God wants for everybody.)

In this life the key word is "faith", not "sight". Most of us are where you are, hanging on in spite of how bad things are, crying out for justice and healing for the world, grieving over all the death and suffering. But this is what Jesus said in "the sermon on the mount", and I think too many people mistake his promises of relief for what will happen in this life.

Look also at the 11th chapter of Hebrews, and notice that though some of the people known for their faith experienced miraculous deliverance in this life, others did not. I'm not God and can't explain why this difference exists, but I can tell you that it isn't because some people lack faith. In fact, faith is much easier to keep when things go well.

It hurts; it's unfair; it's a lonely and depressing road. But hang on, because I trust the One who rose from the dead to make good on his promise of a much better life to come.
