I don't think the actual games in the NBA are quite as rigged as they used to be.

The Donoghy situation really straightened some people the fuck up. The phantom fouls aren't quite as obvious as they were back in that Lakers-Kings series in the early 2000s. Most of that now goes on in less important situations, to kind of nudge along certain results the league would like to see happen.

I believe in areas such as the draft lottery, however, there is still just as much corruption and rigging as there was in the frozen envelope ordeal in the Ewing draft.

It's not rigged for the most part, but certain refs are called upon to keep the games close. Take the start of the 3rd for instance. Spurs could have blew it open, but were unable to. Why? The refs called chippy little fouls left and right in favor of the Heat. Heat were in the bonus with almost 9 mins left in the 3rd. Give the Heat credit though. Allen knocked down a difficult 3. Spurs choked. End of story.

True. "Rigged at key moments" is the key. Each play is not scripted because that would be too obvious. It's certain key plays with the refs and possibly some of the coaches in on it.

Players are the LEAST in on it...although certain stars may be at times. Its primarily the refs, followed by the head coaches. Key people, but few in number.

Ginobili's drive was a clear foul and they didn't call it; if the heat was behind and the same play on lebron they would have definitely called it.
During the playoffs the refs always give fouls to teams that are down in crucial moments that can give an extra game in a series; that's just protocol.
Do you have any idea how much money game 7 of the final is going to bring to the league? It's simply going to be the most watched game of the season...

Oh and if you think people and especially refs cannot be bought in high level pro sports then you obviously haven't been paying attention to all the scandals that have been revealed in the recent years that involved the $400 billions per year sports betting industry....

The NBA wants a game 7. Every sport wants their finals to go to a game 7. But if the game was rigged than the Heat would have pulled away in the 4th and won comfortably. There wouldn't have been a miracle finish. You can't script that Ray Allen shot.

Popovich benched his 2 star players on a crucial minutes and didnt call Time Out on the last 20 seconds they have possession of the ball. Manu Ginobili had so much travelling in the last minutes and he is still handling the ball while Parker , the main man got benched.
