Something else about human nature. No matter what the act, no human has ever sacrificed themselves without some sort of gain. Usually the gain being fame. Even when Booth killed Lincoln, he did it to be a "hero". He even said "I will be the most famous man in America".

When you see mass shootings by a nobody who blows his head off, he did it for the fame. Sure it is infamy, but you and everybody else knows who he is.

Snowden is the same. Self serving. He did this to make himself famous. And now he wants to remain free to reap the benefits of such fame. Nothing more.
