I had a congressmen tell me the other day that any person can go down to the post office and pay them to give you information on what type of mail is sent to which addresses.

Can anyone confirm this?

My mail carriers can barely get the mail to the correct address... No chance they will work any harder than they already don't.

I worked for the post office for 6 years. I was in a small city and never saw one of these cards. They are very rare. I have heard of the image recording program though. Wouldn't worry too much though. Take the ineptitude of the government and multiply it by ten and then you have postal management. I can just see it now...

The inability to Read and read english well is an issue I have heard in some postal facilities

1. dumb downs getting jobs before they finish with their third grade summer reading programs

2. illegals not finished with their summer english as a second language free university programs sponsored by the tax payer

just wanted to throw in, our postal service here in germany wanted it to take a big step further about 2 years ago:

email to letter service.

huge promotion w/ many letters from the deutsche post to sign up for your emailadress at deutsche post, you then can write an email and have it printed out and sent as letter and vice versa!
printed out and put in an envelope by some stranger, of course. and a handwritten letter scanned and sent as email to you.

i don´t know anyone who does use this service idea, big fail i assume, haven´t heard from it lately.

but the idea of offering something like that and expecting people to give up their "right of secrecy regarding postal services" (don´t know the english expression, sorry) alone is.. stunning.

With the electronic readers they use to sort most mail nowadays, it is plausible they are collecting all that info.
