Generally , people who attack others feel threatened. It is usually out of fear, resentment, jealousy or because they have an inferiority complex. Some of them are bullies who simply get by bullying others to make themselves feel better and this is learned behavior. So these people were bullied in turn.

Most adults know and understand that not everyone is going to agree with your opinions and that is quite ok. They don't have to. A difference of opinion is what makes us human and gives us diversity. The real trick is to try and see things from someone else's perspective and even if you do not agree, perhaps understand that the persons opinion may has some merit and certainly has value from their point of view.
