When I was underage I got a job in cleaning streets and trimming trees. Somebody didn't do their job here. Quoting: shyrlymyrly this! Actually, someone keeps cutting the grasses down and preventing small brush from protecting the trunk of the tree. |

What the hell has happened? Um... it's completely normal and happens all the time where trees aren't manicured. More deplorable all the time. |

What the hell has happened? It is normal. Trees die but certain species can have new sprouts form from the root mass. |

Yeah... New strawberry bushes or whatever grow out of the seeds. It's nothing weird or strange. You can put a strawberry in the ground and you will get a strawberry plant. I'm a bibletard, sorry for the inconvenience. |

What the hell has happened? Looks like a green ash tree. Likely emerald ash bore. Recently fell two large trees both started shooting new growth off the trunk after branches began to die. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 43371925 United States 08/04/2013 09:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to xanface.tumblr.com] Quoting: krosty If you think this is normal you're out of your mind. What the hell has happened? OMFG....YES this is fucking normal...jesus...they're called SUCKERS and that is probably a fruit tree someone didn't prune properly. [link to homeguides.sfgate.com] Tree suckers take nutrients and moisture away from the tree that supports them. They can ruin a tree crown or turn a young tree into a shrub. Suckers growing from tree branches grow straight up and follow stressful events. Suckers started during drought are called watersprouts, but suckers can also arise on branches following improper pruning techniques such as “topping,” also known as pollarding. Ground-level suckers rise from the base of the tree or from shallow roots where growth nodes -- the joints between annual growth -- pass near enough the surface to receive enough light to sprout. |

Yeah... New strawberry bushes or whatever grow out of the seeds. It's nothing weird or strange. You can put a strawberry in the ground and you will get a strawberry plant. The seeds naturally take a while before they germinate, usually after the fruit they are on decomposes...hence why we did not usually see plants growing out of the fresh foods we ate. Things are currently sped up. Deal with it and eat up. A little truth won't hurt you, and hopefully neither will the extra sprouts. |

Quoting: AstronomyUFO read the article on tree suckers. the foliage is dying because someone didn't prune the suckers back and they are drawing nutrients away from the upper parts of the tree. click a link once in a while. there is absolutely NOTHING abnormal about this and i am astounded this thread got any star ratings above ONE. complete utter bullshit. |

samanthasunflower User ID: 37056712 United States 08/04/2013 10:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Looks like your park has an insect infestation. Some insects bore into the trees and kill the branches, sometimes even the whole tree. The tree will fight to live by sending branches out through any part of it that is still alive. I saw this in my cherry orchard before we painted all the trunks to protect them. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 44174692 Australia 08/04/2013 10:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A lot of trees do this when things aren't going well up top (as well as all the time, just less so). There is a lot of dieback visible in the small amount of canopy we can see. The tree 'thinks' it might die, and is trying to make sure it doesn't. As our climate warms, we will see a lot more of this. |
