Why is August the new October?

Same location op. It is a bit octobery. Summer seems very short this year and I do not like it.

Southern ontario here and its hot as hell.

Summers are going to get shorter and hotter over time, also winter is going to get much longer and colder over that same time. Just observe the changes in the northern hemisphere over the next few years.. The transition periods between the two will become very brief, as the distance from the sun to the earth will grow in the winter, and get closer in the summer, the cause will be a change in the Earth's elliptical orbit.

Weather is also going to get much more extreme.

Don't take my word for it though.. Just "wait and see"

I was hanging out at a b-day party for my mother in law yesterday she turned 65. There were a lot of "older" folks there because she comes from a large family ( she has 21 siblings she is the 7th oldest ). A lot of these people were farmers. I was listen to them talk and they were talking about how some trees are turning colors, and how it feels like fall. They all found it weird too. I wanted to make a thread, but I think this a good place to agree with your thread OP. eastern middle MN.

Very much like early autumn in New Hampshire this past week. No sunflowers in my garden...usually have quite a few. The pumpkins look promising, though! (No tomato plants to move in/out). I do remember very hot August nights during the past decades.

I'm from Alberta and its hot here, I also find it extremely bright out. Mind you I noticed some of the trees already turning yellow ..

Nothing too out of the ordinary in Oregon.
Summer fires are especially bad this year though.
Lots of smoke/ash fallout.

But the weather itself seems normal. Tomato plants doing fine and remain outside.

I agree the sun does feel hot even through cloud cover the air temp. Is normal but where the suns rays touch you it's hot. edit the air temp is cool for August not normal sorry

I'm in Toronto, and this morning, I had to close all of my windows. It's not just that the temperature is way lower than normal, the wind is COLD. It's not a summer wind. It's bizarre. We are usually in the middle of a month-long sweaty, humid heatwave during this time of the year.

It has been much cooler than usual in Virginia. And I've been hearing geese fly over all week, a sure sign of fall.

I agree with the observed effects, although possibly not with your proposed cause, but none the less...

It's too COLD, the GEESE are staging to fly south already, it's WAY too DARK in the mornings for the time of year at 6:00 am when I leave work.

This is worrisome... Something has altered the planet's seasonal cycle radically from every indication I can see.

Should I wait to tell you more when you post a thread titled Why is July the new April? ?

People are not quite ready to hear it, timing is everything, after some major climate related events, then we can have a real discussion about the true cause. No predictions required when it is already happening.

Very cool here in Wisconsin last couple of weeks to cold to swim. Way too cool don't like it it sucks .

Isolated and regional conditions will not give you the true changes over time...

Trends and patterns people... Averages and times over the entire planet. Then in the northern and southern hemispheres. Focus observations and calculate from there.

This one will most likely sneak up on all of you, especially if you aren't prepared to survive it.

The cyclical dynamics of our solar system and galaxy are far too complex to explain here in this thread, maybe another soon..

It doesn't take a lot of change in distance from the earth to the sun to cause dramatic change in climate. Especially when the Earth's axial tilt is factored into the orbital changes.

The northern hemisphere if going to become a lot less habitable eventually.

I'm in NOVA and it has barely gotten out of the 80's, when usually we're in the 90's or 100's.

Leaves have been falling since last month, and now even more so. Probably because the trees are dying. It's still hot out, but the "feeling" is autumn.

Denver Colorado has had fall written all over it... My wife and I were discussing how it is typically in the high 90's this time of year and has been for as long as we can remember but we have not broken 85 in like 3 weeks. It just smells like fall! But hey fuck it, Go Broncos!
