This is what the healthcare exchange website came up with for insurance cost for me and my wife if we did not have insurance through her work place. $825 a month obamacare premium.

Well, since you already have insurance through your wife's policy, it's a good thing you won't have to sign up for Obamacare.

But how many people lost their employer's health plan and were forced into the exchanges?

I calculated our cost. $895 per month.
Now considering we can barely afford to pay our bills, even though we do not have car payments, credit cards,cable tv, never eat fast food or at restaurants etc. This cost would break us.

I don't know whether you noticed it or not, but the trend of hiring Temps and part-time workers in order to get around paying for full-time benefits for employees has been going on for a long, long time. For instance, 401ks, gaining prominence in the late 1980s, was a way for companies to avoid pension plans. I had a job at Sears in 1970, for gawd's sake, where I'd work up to 39 hours a week every week -- so they wouldn't have to put me on the full-time payroll.
But don't worry .. if you wife lost her job, your household income would drop and then you could afford health insurance on your income alone.

I will start a campaign for the American refugees to be accommodated in Romania.

It's not as bad as advertised. It's nothing more than insurance reform, mainly. It will have glitches as it's rolled out; that's to be expected. But it is nothing like the IMAGE of it that's been promoted by the Right-wing billionaires in the US who have been funding media outlets and PACs behind the scenes in a campaign to discredit it. You see, here in the US, people can put *anything* on the airwaves. We don't have the laws protecting us from deliberate, political disinformation that they have in Britain.
Oh and ... I lived in Bedfordshire for nearly four years. Loved the UK.

American conservatives managed to trick their dumbest followers into thinking a plan right wing think tanks came up with (private mandatory insurance) and implemented (romneycare) is the most evil thing ever on a federal level (obamacare).

Now everyone is paying the price for ginning up the most mouth breathingest portion of the population into thinking their having access to healthcare that doesn't include unfunded mandated care in the emergency room (thanks reagan).

Or because freedom.

- It's not going to work.
- It's corporate welfare for the insurance industry.
- Millions and millions still won't be able to get medical care after it takes effect.
