Can't stop looking at the night sky... Anyone else?

I was just out looking for fireballs, as I was out I was thinking, why cant we see the light from the center of the milkyway? We can see stars and dust in the tail! even stars 700ly away, but not our own galaxy center! Why is that?

Search light pollution and you will understand.

Thanks but without searching, why can we see stars further than our milkyway center in the same light polution?

Im not to lazy to search, but if you know it would save me 200 pages to read.

the hell, thats exactly what ive been seeing lately. weird colors almost like that energy you see when you meditate. i was outside last night sitting against a tree and i felt so fuckin good. in fact, ill be going out tonight again.try going out barefoot and see if it intensifies the effect, it worked for me.

Dammit!! I just saw what i thought was a fireball out here in California, it was way to the west, like maybe out over the ocean, very low in the horizon and headed south. I thought it might be a comet, but it was way too fast and left a smoke trail in our atmosphere. Dammit because it was over so fast i didn't have a chance to grab a camera.

I don't think OP is talking about proverbial star gazing, watching for meteors, etc ..... I think he is talking about what is also associated with walking out the door and for some reason always looking up right away.

Watching web for people posting fireballs. Too many lately. Unusual.

It's kind of nice to not be a sheep staring at our smartphone or listening to their propaganda on the TV...right? When I stargaze I often think, they don't want us looking up. It's quite liberating....
