The use of the words hell, eternal torment, judgment,
Kingdom of God,,,etc. are all figurative, since they
refer to abstract concepts.

You can see, touch, or measure things of the senses, but
abstractions aren't experienced directly.

You see red objects, but you don't see redness.

Also, it is a mystery how the physical world is registered
by the psyche. We aren't robots, so feeling things in the
sense of a psychic experience is fully possible; dreams
are a good example...
