Thank you for seconding my "wtf" about the curfew. I couldn't find anything saying the "sidewalk" or street in that area closed at 10pm either.

Looking at that picture makes me furious! If there is any type of protest or anything of the like in the NY area I will be there.

i've seen people dressed up as cops, who were only actors on tv.
i've seen people dressed up as presidents, who were bank robbers.
i've seen people dreesed up like ghosts and witches, who were kids trick or treating on halloween.

how do we know these "vets" are not "anarchists" in costume for a photo-op to stir up emotional shit?
i mean no disrespect. i come from a long line of military family back to the very foundation of america, and yes we are all pissed about the memorials being closed. yes we believe we should be able to visit the parks during normal visiting hours, even during the shutdown, but not at unreasonable times, like at midnite, when the parks should be closed for maintence, etc.
we don't believe that true military vets would go to the memorial afterhours to prove a point. that would definitely justify an arrest, even without a shutdown. so that would make no sence at all.
so if this arrest happened after normal visitng hours, i highly doubt these are true vets at all. they could be activists trying to make a highly emotional situation worse.

The national mall is open to everybody....it's funding comes from the municipal DC budget. Remember the guy who set himself on fire there a few days after the shutdown began? It was open then...and it's open now.
