Anonymous Coward User ID: 26550488 United Kingdom 10/29/2013 08:29 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We do not live in a democracy. A few years ago in the paper someone suggested we were living in an oligarchy. I thought idiocracy more like. In ancient Athens they lived in a democracy. Only males voted. Women and slaves could not. When there was a choice to be made those who had a vote had to vote and were obliged to go to the senate to do so. Anyone who tried to opt out was hounded into the building by slaves who had a rope with red dye on it which would destroy the persons clothes. In the West we are at a point where we could all vote electronically for everything. All we would have to ensure was that the computer system could not be corrupted. What we would end up like is uncertain, and is dependent on who would be included in the vote and whether it was compulsory and whether people took it seriously. I expect some things like capital punishment would get voted in even though it is not politically correct at the moment. At the moment the BBC is in a terrible state which it has not got out of yet Their moral compass is way off. The new 9pm programmes are stomach churningly violent and it is not a good idea to mock mythical figures and pervert ancient stories in programmes for young adults . For all we know they could be more real than anyone thinks and claim vengeance for the insults to their story. Thunderbolts are scary .As for the abuses of children and women what can be said. I do not want to find my licence fee has been used for such disgusting things and I should like to hear that ways of never letting this happen again have been introduced The BBC is bit like the national health with too much management feeding off the licence fee / government money. I do not understand why government run organisations cannot be run as a proper business with the profits returning to we the people rather than share holders. In the sense of lower licence fee and better treatment in hospital or the GPs say. I wonder if it would be better to take advice from the man who grew Tesco and is now retired and other successful business men. Why the BBC has to massage the news and fake visual news items I do not know . They have a short term memory problem and also repeat things too often. I have thought before the organisation has Altzhemers, this accompanied by arrogance could be deadly .Personally I do not want to see the BBC or the NHS destroyed but have a complete make over to be fit for this new centuary. I do not think privatisation is the answer. Look at the stupid mess the electric companies and rail companies have become. The first steals peoples' monies if they change providers. I had to phone to find out the state of my account as I was in credit and it is impossible to work out which is the best one to use .This competition surely costs more than before and they seem to have fixed their rates between themselves. The second seems unable to provide enough space for people to sit. The tickets are very expensive .Ours has multiple tickets which are confusing and has introduced security gates and barriers which are not needed and inconvenient while still not repairing the pond like puddles which appear in the car park after rain. Yes we are entering the age of idiocracy most definitely . I must stop .Please excuse the rant |

Face Palmer User ID: 49114995 Germany 10/29/2013 08:57 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "The world will soon wake up to the reality that everyone is broke and can collect nothing from the bankrupt, who are owed unlimited amounts by the insolvent, who are attempting to make late payments on a bank holiday in the wrong country, with an unacceptable currency, against defaulted collateral, of which nobody is sure who holds title." Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity. The woman who is not pursued sets up the doctrine that pursuit is offensive to her sex, and wants to make it a felony. No genuinely attractive woman has any such desire. - H.L. Mencken, In Defense Of Women |
