Anyone See Meteor / Fireball tonight?????
I can't find any posts. Did anyone see any strange fireballs or meteor like things this evening? My husband was driving home from work tonight and saw something strange. We are in Ohio. He was heading West. He didn't think they were planes....moved differently and too bright.

Are there any websites to track meteor sightings? I thought I saw a link here somewhere, but can't find it.

Hmmm. My animals are fine right now, but my dog is so old he wouldn't even notice if a meteor hit our house.

I saw it tonight but didnt get a chance to take a picture. I thought it was an airplane too at first but when i got my telescope out it looked like 3 v shaped asteroids in a cluster.

The hubby doesn't normally get worked up about this sort of thing, but he called me right away. He said he saw like 3 objects all near each other and felt they were too near each other to all be planes. He decided one was a plane, but the other two were moving in a different way. I have no idea what he saw. But it had him worked up! Maybe I'll go out right now and see if I see anything interesting.

Well, I saw one myself tonight! At about 5:25 toward the SW. It was heading down and East. Huge and very bright! I was standing there just staring at Venus or whatever that crazy bright thing is and zoom...there it went. Biggest, brightest one I've ever seen.
So maybe he did see something yesterday.

Saw one tonight, on Long Island, NY. I was facing west when I saw it streak from south to north. Only lasted a few seconds.

Apparently the meteors they saw in CA are being associated with the Taurid Meteor Shower which is supposed to be Nov. 16-17. Could it be an early showing of this?

Exactly what it is.

Taurids always cause more "fireball" sightings in October and November.

Every year.

Those dates are just the "peak of the showers", you can see taurids all through October and November and even into December.

I want to see more. I've seen my share of meteors in my life, but nothing as bright as what I saw tonight!
