Why does it take a tradgedy, before you realize what you had all along?

Was very close to spending my life in prison. Long story, even a bit miraculous, but I avoided this fate. Realized took so many things for granted. Walked outside my backyard, as a free man, after this, and it was pure heaven bliss, to simply enjoy the sunshine and grass. It was so beautiful and amazing, but I know, I would have never came to this appreciation, if this negative event didn't occur.

It's just human nature. I didn't appreciate my pain free body until I lost it and became sick. It's just the way we are I guess, we take things for granted that we consider ordinary and unremarkable.
