Anonymous Coward User ID: 1567652 United States 11/17/2013 01:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was watching the news and there was this MMA fight where one big guy was on top of another guy but the punches he was giving looked like baby punches to me. How come the guy under was not bleeding at all? In real life the guy under would be in a coma or at least seriously fucked up. But no, the guy under just shakes it up then he gets on top again without hardly a scratch. Comon they are supposed to be using martial arts moves right? So where are the dead or at least the broken bones and the buckets of blood? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 49967613 MMA is a gladiatorial spectacle for stupid people. It's marketed and geared towards the lowest common denominator. Same with football and other "sports". Truly for the ignorant and spiritually illiterate. |

I used to watch the Gameness crew train in TN before MMA was legal there. Saw my friend Bryan fuuuuuck a dude up here recently, too. Blood a plenty. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 50072539 United States 11/17/2013 03:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP, I suggest you go to a UFC Gym or any other MMA training center and challenge some dude to a fake fight. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46446675 I could do that. I wouldn't challenge them to a real fight though. you gotta remember too that MMA is a sport with rules and such. It's not real fighting. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 47500597 United States 11/17/2013 03:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | its real, im sure some fights are fixed, but that goes with the territory, if you look at all the early UFC and then look into who OWNED the company, you will see that many of the first ufc's were basically infomercials for gracie bjj... im not saying all the early fights were fixed but they chose match-ups that obviously favored the bjj fighter, which at the time was easy because most US and European fighters had no been exposed to these fighting styles. Bjj is very dangerous, so much so that some moves arent taught in certain gyms because even in training there is the possibility of causing serious damage. The easy way to tell if its fake is to take a look at the rules and who enforces them. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 50072539 United States 11/17/2013 03:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It was real in the beginning up until this year when Anderson silva the realest fighter in the game decided to retire. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 49482521 They staged a fight so Chris Weidman could become the new champion, theres no way in hell that chris won that fight fair and square. here is an analysis after weidman beat silva. jack slack is a very good analyst on the striking aspects of mma. [link to bleacherreport.com] here is jack slack telling how someone could beat anderson with some of his flaws before the fight. [link to bleacherreport.com] also silva didnt retire. he's rematching wiedman in december. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 50072539 United States 11/17/2013 04:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm just saying that the fighters look like they are holding back and try not to hurt their opponent too much because they are good enough to kill, no doubt about that. They are being technical just to score points. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 50122646 look like they are holding back? so they aren't fighting in there 100 percent? good enough to kill? you need to get into reality and out of your fantasy world |

If a non fighter gets hit hard in the cheekbone it would probably break. Yet if you hit a pro fighter he would just get a bruise. Same if you kick a Thai boxer in the leg he wouldn't feel it, yet if he kicked a non fighter they wouldn't be able to walk. I think some of the fights are fixed though, like most sports are. |
