I wish more analysts would spend their time analyzing why people are succeeding instead of implying that those who are do so at the expense of the rest. How are they succeeding? What could we do as a nation to help more people to succeed without punishing or demonizing those who have?

In the near-term we focus on "jobs" as the rallying cry. Fair enough. But, if our leaders aren't smart enough to define sustainable economic foundations which go beyond the jobs, we will fail. If our last resort is continued income redistribution, it says more about the failure of our leaders and our ability to elect them than about any moral certitudes. And, the inevitable outcome of redistribution is mediocrity for all.

We haven't been socialist since Thatcher, socialism and 'the left' are dirty words in the UK. While Obama is trying to build social programs, Cameron is trying to dismantle them - but ultimately they come up with the same results - more money for big corporations and increased enslavement/reduced rights for the people.
