Walden Village Police in conjunction with the New York State Police and Orange County DA’s Office are investigating the death of Jean P. Lominy, age 33, of Connecticut. Julian J. Hilliard, age 22, of Walden has been charged with Manslaughter in the 1st degree. No other suspects are being sought. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to please contact Investigator Roy Werner of the Walden Village Police, 845-778-5595. More details will be released at a later time.

VILLAGE OF WALDEN – Police have made an arrest in the death of a man in Walden. Village Police were called to a residence on North Montgomery Street at 6:45 a.m. Friday and found the body of Jean Lominy, 33, of Connecticut.

Investigators arrested Julian Hilliard, 22, of Walden and charged him with first-degree manslaughter. No other suspects are being sought.

Police did not release any other information, including how Lominy died, or a motive for the incident.

As the investigation continues, anyone with information about the case is asked to call Investigator Roy Werner at 845-778-5595.

That is the man who was killed, body found with puddles of blood. People i know that live next door, said there are still massive blood stains. Another interesting twist. ONe of the rich families in the area (Degroodts), were ***involved but no word has been brought up. Money does buy justice these days..

Reaction from residents in the village of walden

It's not the way anyone in this quiet community in Walden expected they would be spending the holiday. Residents we spoke to are eager to know the details behind Friday's alleged murder, a murder in their backyard. YNN's Eva McKend has more on the story.

WALDEN, N.Y. -- "It's a little town. It's scary. Nothing like that ever happens around here," said one Walden Resident.

Residents in this community of about 7, 000 say they were unnerved to learn that Julian J. Hilliard, 22, was charged with manslaughter after police say an altercation led to Jean Lominy's, 33, death.

"Things like these, they go on. It was close to home. It's unnerving but it's not something I expect to continue in this area," said Austin Berrian, Walden Resident.

Both the Village of Walden and State Police are working on the investigation. Broken up into separate apartments, police say five other tenants were in the house on North Montgomery Street, at the time of the incident. Some neighbors say they believe it was drug related.

"If it was drug related, that's how it goes," said Paul Jediny, Walden Resident.

On Facebook, the Mayor of Walden posted, "I was born and raised in this Village. It is a safe and beautiful place to be raised. I look forward to raising my child right here in my hometown of Walden. For anyone currently residing in Walden or the greater Walden area I ask you to not lose faith."

Still residents say they are concerned.

"We walk to the store here. We go for walks. My kids get off the school bus here. It's a little too close for comfort. It really is," said Allen Rearick, Walden Resident.

This is an ongoing investigation. It's important to remember at least one family is grieving right now. We saw the family of the deceased at the Village Police station.

Julian is a great kid respectful polite and we'll mannered. The guy Jean or other known as Jay was known as a drug dealer selling to minors kids adults all. He didn't care. I knew Jay myself he was a complete asshole. From what I hear Jay actually tried stabbing Julian and Julian reacted off self defense. The walden cops are corrupt and against the law I have witnessed a countless number of times, do things to people that are completely unfair and out right messed up. There were actually other suspects in this murder and they were out ruled just because the suspect was related to the Sargent of the walden pd. it's just outrageous how corrupt they are and how much of assholes most of those cops are. They have lied in a countless number of cases in the past. Many innocent people have been put in jail because of the walden pd. from what i hear a lot of the police officers do drugs coke heroine etc.

First that's is not Jeans Facebook. He was a young man that went to a catholic high school and came from a good family and has many that love and care for him. He was a father and a friend, have some respect please as many of us are mourning

Looking at Julian's photo, he appears to be lacking in higher brain function. In fact, he looks rather evil and it's not surprising to see his ugly mug on a story about a sordid murder.

at the end of the day this is a sad situation all the around. Jean could have been a scumbag, a dirtbag, a drug dealer a whatever...but he still has a little baby at home who now has to grow up as a father. Julian may be a young punk, or a scumbag but he also has a baby at home whose father will not be round. 2 young lives that were completely destroyed all over some dumb shit.

I was Jean's best friend for 16 years. He didn't deserve this. He was a good person and a great father. I hope this animal rots in hell for taking my friend's life. I can only hope he's at peace now. His family is in my deepest prayers.

This reminds me of my nextdoor neighbor Ben Bishop. I knew him for ten years, babysitting him, becoming good friends, etc. When he got into his teens, he fell into the wrong crowd. After taking mind altering drugs like bath salts, he became a schizophrenic. After many years of doing drugs people sold him, he lost his mind. A year ago he shot & killed both his parents while they slept. Right now, he's incompetent to stand trial & He will most likely spend the rest of his life in a mental hospital. He once was a very bright kid with a bright future. He played baseball in school, was on the swimming team, & played football. The people who introduced him to drugs are in & out of jail & are the parasites of what once was a good neighborhood.

The true shame of the matter is the way you all talk. This is nothing new: stupid is what stupid does. The true shame of the matter is that those left in the wake of this tragedy suffer as well as the public at large, directly or indirectly. Speaking of the public at large, if those in civil service around here took their collective jobs more seriously, this town would not be a rumor mill, nor would it have half the problems it does. Civil servants in this town are purely reactionary and not proactive in their roles. For example, just look at the local teen center. People from outside of the community, who are not teens, are allowed to "hang out" and "play." No sort of ID (school or otherwise) is required, and a blind eye seems to be prevalent when it comes to address and getting rid of bad behavior. The police are preoccupied with "speed traps" and answering delinquency calls placed on children and childlike adults who are growing old rather than growing up. The mayor, although well intentioned, grew up in the area and is not addressing what would be obvious to address since he grew up here, playing on some of the same basketball courts and leagues, so one would imagine that he, of all people (considering his age) would know some of the pitfalls people face around here. Whatever happened with the "buck stops here?"
