Debit vs. credit cards: Which is safer to swipe?
"I know people love their debit cards. But man oh man, they are loaded with holes when it comes to fraud," said John Ulzheimer, credit expert at CreditSesame.com, a credit management website.

Shred your debit card.

I was told this at an FBI presentation.

If you loose your debit card, a crook can empty your bank account in minutes.

Because 29% is a bargain!

Seriously Im not sure there is a safe way. Someone will get you somewhere some how.

The institutions can be as bad or worse than the common criminal.

But I believe a lot of this "hacking" is state funded.

More than one bank account to be had, use more senses than relying on insurance alone, stick on that spot is a load of crap deal.

You have more protection against fraud with a credit card. With a debit card it can take months to fight a fraudulent charge.

Re: Debit vs. credit cards: Which is safer to swipe?
Never give out the kitty info. I don't use debit because its a mainline to your actual fiat currency. Use credit. So someone steals your credit line, much better than they steal your mattress stash.

I use AMEX exclusively, not because I think they are a wholesome company, but because they always credit back fraud. A lot of vendors don't take it, and you have to pay it each month, no revolving credit crap, but I have had credit theft more times than I can count and I just don't pay those and they always get resolved.

Not to mention, I have taken 2 family vacations for 6 to Hawaii in the past 4 years. Airfare, hotel and car all off points. Paid a $10 each BS tax on it, cost $60 plus what we spent there on food and ancillary crap.
