Burgess is one of our most prized dystopian writers.. Unfortunately many of the self-proclaimed conspiracy theorists here haven't even read Orwell... Good luck getting them to dissect Burgess' amazing body of work. Burgess was highly disturbed by our programmable human nature. He predicted the nefarious intentions of the media's tools and techniques. He warned strongly against consumerism and taught us to be weary of the daily bombardment of mental and emotional manipulation we endure everyday at the hands of our masters.

Kurt Vonnegutt is great too. The short story of Harrison Bergeon.. warned us to shy away from this fantasy ideal of equality we so pathetically attempt to uphold. These dytopias are almost always created by a ruling class or single man attempting to make the world better. Forcing everyone to be legally and literally equal would destroy our most powerful and progressive thinkers. Telling us, no, brainwashing us to think that men and women are equal or that intelligence and free thought is shameful... those are the things destroying us.. This is where newspeak from 1984 comes in... By controlling and altering the connotations of words, you can effectively reprogram an entire population of people.

I just wish some of us here... Especially people like "us" who come to places like GLP.. People like us who have alternative thinking and views, I just wish we would challenge the ideals more.. I wish we could question our own desire or need to conform or ascribe to how the masses think.. When's the last time you truly spoke your mind, free of fear of judgment or attack? And when is the last time you listened to a person's beliefs and even if you didn't agree, you were grateful to hear that has opposing views?

Think about it, when all we have left is like-minded people, we lose the ability to break check each other, checks and balances :)
My crazies balance out your normals and it's all reciprocal <35ahf
