Re: Job Picture - Who's Laying Off / Closing?
The unemployment rate dropped to 6.7 percent, below economist estimates and due primarily to continued shrinkage in the labor force. The labor force participation rate tumbled to 62.8 percent, its worst level since January 1978.

The monthly job creation was the worst in nearly two years.

A broader measure of unemployment that includes discouraged and underemployed workers held steady at 13.1 percent.

Trouble is no one wants entry level to learn a trade.
We either get laborers or plant managers.

Where's that 20-something eager, energetic, smart person who can pass a drug test & show up on time long term?

We lost 8.1 m jobs in 2008 and 2009. We have only gained 7.5 from 2010-2013. we are still 600 k from the 2007 level. So since 2008 things have not changed.

Problem is people are so used to the layoffs, its like second nature.

Can't stop caring or talking about it or we will have no economy.

its ugly business out there. People are better off creating their own job. As for passing a Pee test, that's all part of the deal isn't it? SO many smoking pot now, they can't pass a test cause it is in their Fat cells, unlike Cocaine or other drugs that quickly leave the system.

this is just another way to creating separation.

And that is if those numbers are accurate.

The thing is, even if we gained, truthfully, 8.1M jobs, we'd still be short 200k X 48 months (the amount each month to keep up with population).

Houston. Very specialized mechanic. Sorry I won't be more specific here. The job market here is pretty good, from the lack of good applicants.

First Med/Med Corp EMS closed up here in Ohio several weeks ago. Call went out in the middle of a shift to bring the ambulance back in and turn in all equipment. Without any warning what so ever 2300 employees lost their jobs. This happened 2 weeks before Christmas.
