World In Crisis As London Issues Unprecedented Drought Orders, US Reports Massive Loss Of Wheat, China Pummeled By Massive Drought, Rains

By: Sorcha Faal, and as reported to her Russian Subscribers

Russian Scientists are warning today that the continued Global Weather Chaos engulfing our entire planet is now endangering the World’s food supplies as nation after nation reports unprecedented damage from storms and drought.

So desperate has the situation become in the United Kingdom that London has become the latest city in that nation to apply for unprecedented drought orders, and as we can read as reported by the Mirror News Service in their article titled "Over Heated", and which says:

"POLICE yesterday airlifted bottles of water to thousands of parched drivers trapped on the M25 in scorching heat. Sweltering motorists were stuck in an 18-mile traffic jam for up to five hours after a lorry burst into flames. Both carriageways were closed as temperatures hit 26C.

The nightmare scene came as experts predicted temperatures would soar to 81F today and water bosses applied for a drought order that could hit five million Londoners, including the Queen."

The situation is likewise becoming catastrophic in both China and Taiwan, and as we can read in these reports:

London and the south east have no water because the shareholders of the water companies wont build underground pipes to take water from the north of England and Scotland down south. There's plenty of water up north, but half the population of the UK live within 100 miles of London.

I think this is just the start.

Japan warned of food shortage

June 10, 2006

TOKYO: Surrounded by fast-growing Asian economies and their even faster-growing appetites, Japan is facing a potential food crisis that could reduce daily diets to the austere meals of the 1950s, a senior government adviser believes.
According to the stark warning of Akio Shibata, director of the Marubeni Research Institute, the rise of China and the intensifying global race for commodities mean that the rich and highly varied diet of modern Japan could be savagely curtailed within the next 10 years.

If imports to Japan were slashed, sushi, teriyaki beef, tonkatsu pork cutlets and other favourites could be swept off the menu and a Spartan diet of plain white rice, pickles, radishes, miso soup and sardines would become the norm as Japan struggled to feed itself.

The Government's plan for dealing with the potential food crisis is likely to involve two strategies. First, to force domestic farmers to use Japan's one million acres of unused agricultural land more efficiently. Second, to persuade the vast ranks of baby boomers, who will retire en masse next year, to take up farming in their twilight years

The Yanks should REALLY get this through their heads:

'Disruption and conflict will be endemic features of life,' concludes the Pentagon analysis. 'Once again, warfare would define human life.'"

The Japs have:

Japan's Cabinet approves defense ministry proposal

EXPANDED ROLE: The bill will elevate the defense agency into a full-fledged ministry, but parliamentary approval may have to wait until it meets later this year

AGENCIES , TOKYO
Saturday, Jun 10, 2006,Page 1
Japan's Cabinet endorsed yesterday a bill to create a full-fledged defense ministry as the pacifist nation looks to play a greater role in international security despite sensitivities over its militarist past.

"While the importance of the role of the Defense Agency and defense issues have been increasing in recent years, we need to upgrade the Defense Agency to the Defense Ministry to deal with various situations properly," Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe told reporters.

Since the years following the end of World War II, Japan has only had a defense agency, which has a lower status than other ministries.

guilt subsiding

The Defense Agency has long pushed for ministry status and the post of defense minister. National guilt for wartime atrocities is subsiding as the nation takes a greater role in international peacekeeping and disaster relief efforts.

The agency's attempts had until now failed because of political sensitivities over memories of Japan's past military aggression. However, a security council chaired by Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi approved the bill on Thursday.

S.F.'s stuff is always interesting.

I wonder what the motive for it is, though. Seems like a lot of work for mere attention seeking.

So what do you all think the ulterior motive is?

You do not have to be Sorcha Faal to know we are in desperate straits.

Not only Nebraska but if we recall, the whole Southwest is in need of rain. Especially Texas.

Add European and Asian drought conditions then I would think it would behoove us to stock water and we don't need SF to tell us to.

Does she have a clue? The US grows more food than any other nation and can feed itself many times over. Not many nations can say the same.

Check this out paladin:

More Than Drought Affecting Wheat Yields

Widespread cases can reduce yields enough that only grazing or making silage from the crop can salvage any income. In many cases, the crop is "zeroed out" by insurance companies and plowed up.
by Staff Writers
Amarillo TX (SPX) Jun 08, 2006
Wheat producers have more than the drought cutting into their yields this year, said two Texas Agricultural Experiment Station researchers.

Dr. Tom Allen, Experiment Station assistant research scientist and plant disease diagnostician, saw more than 150 wheat samples sent to the Great Plains Diagnostic Network lab this growing season, in addition to 400-plus samples the plant pathology staff gathered across the Panhandle.

Ninety-five percent of these samples were diagnosed with the wheat streak mosaic virus. In addition, 50 percent of the samples contained maize red stripe virus, more commonly known as High Plains virus. Both diseases are vectored by the wheat curl mite, Allen said. And so far, there's no treatment for either the viruses or the mite.

The Great Plains Diagnostic Network is a part of a national plant disease monitoring system, which is divided into five regions. The Amarillo facility, a satellite lab to one at Kansas State University, is operated under the Experiment Station's plant pathology program, headed by Dr. Charlie Rush.

Samples came by mail, through Texas Cooperative Extension agents or were dropped off by producers, Allen said.

They came from as far north as Nebraska and as far south as Dallas and the Hill Country, Rush said, making this one of the most widespread years for wheat streak mosaic damage.

"Without question, wheat streak mosaic virus is the No. 1 pathogen of wheat year in and year out," he said.

An early indication this wheat crop would have more problems than normal was the arrival of samples in the middle of October, Allen said, "which is pretty rare to see virus that early. "We've had quadruple the number of samples as any previous year," he said.

Once a crop is diagnosed with one of the viruses, there is little the producer can do, Allen said. Widespread cases can reduce yields enough that only grazing or making silage from the crop can salvage any income. In many cases, the crop is "zeroed out" by insurance companies and plowed up.

This year's virus started early because of last year's crop, he said.

A hail storm across much of the region shortly before harvest knocked the grain from the heads, Allen said. These seeds germinated into a heavy volunteer wheat crop, which went uncontrolled through the summer.

The wheat curl mite over-summered on this "green bridge" and moved into the new crop.

Control of volunteer wheat this summer will be key to controlling the wheat curl mite that vectors the disease, Allen said.

Rush and Allen believe the Conservation Reserve Program grasses throughout the region also might harbor the wheat curl mite.

"We don't have a good understanding of the wheat curl mite and its ecology," Rush said. "It holds on some grasses, but there's lots of work to be done to understand what happens with these mites during the summer."

Right now, he said, the only other advice they can give to producers is to plant as late as possible to reduce chances of severe wheat streak problems again.

"We're trying to develop some cultivars that can be resistant to wheat streak mosaic and could be planted early and then grazed out," Rush said. "They would be popular in this region and serve an important purpose."

The problem now, he said, is any resistance breaks down in high temperatures. And not enough is known about the wheat curl mite to tell producers when or what to spray.

"There are big gaps in our knowledge," Rush said. "But we are making progress and have things working in the field that should provide answers in the next couple of years."

here's what's happening in Africa:

The $100,000 note that won't buy a loaf of bread in Zimbabwe
By Peta Thornycroft in Harare
(Filed: 07/06/2006)

The 100,000 Zimbabwean dollar note which went into circulation this week was officially worth just over 50p. Yesterday on Zimbabwe's burgeoning black markets it was valued at about 16p.

In a country stricken by 1,000 per cent inflation, the world's worst, the new note will not even buy a loaf of bread.
A woman holding a loaf od bread and $45,000
Just four months ago, a loaf of bread cost $45,000

Hours after the national mint started printing the notes, the price of bread shot up by more 40 per cent to $130,000, the third such increase this year.

"This new money makes life better as long as we get a $200,000 note in a few weeks to replace this one," said Shadreck Mbima, a cashier at a supermarket in central Harare.

Mr Mbima said queues regularly formed at his checkout as staff struggled to count stacks of currency.

At a supermarket in Harare's northern suburbs, Deborah Wilson, a mother of four, bought two large soft drinks, two litres of milk, a dozen imported small yoghurts, a packet of cream, some garlic and a few packets of biscuits. Her bill, she said, would be $5 million.

Bakers blamed the rocketing bread price on wheat shortages and soaring costs of ingredients and petrol.

The new notes are strictly speaking not currency but "bearer cheques" signed by Gideon Gono, the governor of the central bank. They carry an expiry date of Dec 31, 2006.

"He has created this fake Russian nun for reasons only
the mentally ill could figure out."

Well then DrPostman, how can this 'fake' Russian be doing an interview then?

Isn't it interesting too that she's on the same programme as Eric Julien the May 25th Comet guy?

"Sorcha Faal is an International Researcher and Author who goes beyond the simple explanations used to explain today’s issues. “Life is meant to be more than accepting our world as separate pieces; everyone must see the interconnectedness of everything.” She is fond of saying.
Seeing that many prominent, and esteemed, Russian researchers, and their works, are not only undervalued in Western countries but also practically unknown, Sorcha has devoted herself to providing a bridge to the world for those ideas and thoughts previously unknown.

Momentous changes are occurring on almost a daily basis to our world and what is missing the most for true comprehension are the contexts to put them into. Without context news stories are just words, and soon forgotten.

Sorcha and many others believe that we are entering a Century of great change, not only for our hearts and minds, but perhaps for our very souls also. Like many others also around the world, and from many countries, Sorcha joins the effort to educate as many as possible towards these events so that they will not become surprised, or be led into despair."

"Eric Julien has stated previously on F2F, that an Alien race, "aimed" a comet fragment to hit the Atlantic ocean on May 25th 2006 which would create a 100 meter high tsunami and could possibly kill millions, if action was not taken. The reason, Eric stated, they were doing this was in response to nuclear threats in the Mideast as well as the repeated suppression and denial of the existence of Alien Contact with Earth.

May 25th has come and gone, but no comet and no tsunami... But Eric Julien maintains it DID happen and was covered up by Governments and the effects were lessened Friendly Aliens..."

UK sizzles in 31C heatwave Water flown in to M25 jam Drought order hits 5million

By Peter Samson

POLICE yesterday airlifted bottles of water to thousands of parched drivers trapped on the M25 in scorching heat.

Sweltering motorists were stuck in an 18-mile traffic jam for up to five hours after a lorry burst into flames. Both carriageways were closed as temperatures hit 26C.

The nightmare scene came as experts predicted temperatures would soar to 81F today and water bosses applied for a drought order that could hit five million Londoners, including the Queen.

Surrey Police helicopter ferried the water to drivers after the truck fire near Leatherhead.

Paramedics treated three people at the roadside who suffered heat exhaustion. Anna Clark, of Maidstone, Kent, was trapped in the jam with her children Louise, six, and Ben, four. The 37-year-old said: "It was a nightmare.

"It was so hot just sitting there not able to do anything about it."

The lorry driver suffered minor burns.

Weather experts last night issued smog and heatwave alerts and predicted temperatures this weekend would be the highest this year.
