Anonymous Coward User ID: 54629394 India 02/20/2014 09:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've got (had, now) this 'temporary part time seasonal' gig as a subcontractor for Home Depot, building barbecue grills, lawn furniture, wheelbarrows and stuff like that. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54542346 Last year I made $16,000 doing this, working from March to the end of June. Not fantastic, but not horrible. I just got an email today, just now, telling me they cut the pay rate for this this work by 40%. Yippee! So if you want a job building barbecue grills, lawn furniture, wheelbarrows and stuff like that for Home Depot, there's gonna be some job openings starting next week. Because the rest of us are all going bye-bye. Have fun! Here's what the job is. life seems to be difficult for trade-person in usa |

So there's just rich folk, and ghetto dwellers standing around waiting for handouts. But what I have not been able to figure out, after many years of being a working schmoo, is who do they think is going to buy all this stuff, when NOBODY has a decent fucking job? How is the big boss of Home Depot going to make his billions, when there's nobody left to buy his crap? |

If money stops circulating then it is not really going to matter how much you have. There wont be anywhere to spend it and if there is it wont be safe to go there. Yeah, brilliant plan guys. |

For someone, whom took an early retirement and remains bored through it all...I would take it! It beats having the wife ride your backside to mow the yard when you mowed it yesterday. Where do I sign up? |

Bluebird User ID: 44887449 United States 02/20/2014 09:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yeah, I'm not so sure this is just Home Depot arbitrarily doing this. They may not have much say in the matter if they want to keep their doors open. Obamacare is going to have this effect on just about every aspect of business. It hasn't even really started to be felt yet. . One of the most important aspects of conspiracy theories is being able to discern when there isn't one. Oh yeah, like you'd understand anyway. Where do I sign up? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54630414 LOL!!! Actually, this does sound like a good gig for a retired person or a young person, even at a 40% paycut. But, seriously, I would not have ANY home remodeling or repair work done by Home Depot after I used them to do a minor kitchen remodeling job. Ended up with paint all over the dining room because the person who did it (middle-aged born-in-the-U.S. Caucasian, btw!) forgot to put the lid on when he was mixing the paint! Best place, imo, to get any kind of "fix it" work done is through Home Advisor, where you can read the reviews of the individual contractors. We just had two bathrooms remodeled and a whole floor of ceramic tile (about 800 square feet) laid for $4,800 labor cost. If I had gone through Home Depot, they would have charged about $4,000 just to lay the floor! |

People screamed to the rafters that obamacare was going to cost jobs, but noooooooooooo the democrats knew better Quoting: chuckles45 Remember to thank them in November!!! ^^^This. The people telling everyone to work harder or get better skills are just as clueless though. It is like this everywhere, even for the hard trades that are highly skilled and the college graduates with real degrees. The problem is at the top not the bottom. |

Quoting: King of the North 8393591 How the hell is anyone supposed to pay a 25 year mortgage if they keep lowering wages? It usually helps to not get a mortgage in the first place. Ding ding ding.... Anonymous Coward User ID: 6616599 United States 02/20/2014 10:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So how many people do you know who have enough money to buy a decent home outright or rich relatives who can loan you the money? If you pay rent for years on end, what do you have to show for it? You are just making the owners rich. But, yes, I agree that way too many people have too high of a mortgage payment for their income(s). We could have qualified for close to a $600,000 home, but bought one at half that price because we wanted to keep our payments down to where, if one of us lost our job for any reason, at least we could keep making the house payments! |
