My sentiments are with Jack, it will take the gog magog war to make way for the rebuilding of the temple:

Following this victory the Lord will complete the return of His people Israel to their land, begun in the early 1900′s and made official in 1948. Though He caused them to be scattered all over the world, He’ll now bring them back, not leaving any behind. Since about 55% of the world’s Jewish people currently live outside of Israel this will be some homecoming. But having witnessed His defeat of their enemies, Jews from all over the world will flock to Israel and to Him, yearning for a reinstatement of their Old Covenant relationship. And after waiting for nearly 2000 years for them to return, He certainly won’t refuse them now.

For their part they’ll soon build a Temple, Old Covenant worship being impossible without one. Following the instructions from Ezekiel 40-48

"And so this battle will mark the beginning of Daniel’s 70th week, the last 7 years of human history before the Lord returns. Having given this prophecy to Israel, Ezekiel doesn’t get into any detail about its immediate aftermath, especially as it relates to the world’s subsequent reactions. But for we who are the Church today, the Battle of Ezekiel 38-39 carries more significance in what Ezekiel didn’t say than in what he did.

From our study of Ezekiel 38 you can see that there are really only a few major preceding conditions left before this prophecy can be fulfilled. Turkey has to switch sides, the US has to be taken out of the picture,...."

There are already sign that Turkey's relationship with the west is cooling.

Here's where Jack and I part on how we see things. I don't necessarily think there will be a peace agreement. But I'll reserve my thoughts until another time.

Jack tells us the most likely time for the war of gog and magog to take place is prior to
the beginning of Daniel’s 70th week. Daniel 9:27 reveals that as one of his first official acts, the anti-Christ will enforce a seven-year covenant with Israel that includes permission to build a Temple. (This seven year period is called Daniel’s 70th week.) But because of the controversy it would stir up, most Jews today don’t want a Temple and won’t want one till the Creator of the Universe dramatically reveals Himself to them. He does so in the Battle of Ezekiel 38-39, and after that they’ll be clamoring for a Temple, regardless of the consequences. Old Covenant observance requires it. So it appears that this battle has to precede Daniel’s 70th week, too early for the anti-Christ’s false peace.

Also, the fact that the anti-Christ emerges as a peacemaker implies that some parts of the world will have recently been at war. Perhaps even a war involving a nuclear exchange, which will have left the world in shock, desperate for a plan that would prevent that ever happening again. Satan’s “man of peace” with his seven year covenant will have just the thing to put the world at ease and allow him to begin his meteoric rise to world dominance.

Have You Reached A Verdict?
As we see, circumstantial evidence weighs heavily in favor of the anti-Christ revealing himself on the heels of Ezekiel’s battle rather than before it. And so neither of the Bible’s identified possibilities for peace will take place in time for this battle. That means that some dramatic chain of events, similar to those that led to the “sudden” fall of the Soviet Union, will have to occur soon to place Israel in the vulnerable state necessary for Ezekiel’s prophecy to be fulfilled.

From what we currently understand about End Times Prophecy, the two events most likely to create such a sudden change in the political climate are the destruction of Damascus, foretold in Isaiah 17 and the battle that’s the subject of Psalm 83. No alliance against Israel such as the one described there has happened in history, and if the Lord grants the psalmist’s request to destroy them, the Palestinians, Jordanians, Lebanese, and Syrians will all cease to be a threat when it’s over. In its aftermath, Israel will be larger, stronger, and feel more secure than at any time in its modern history. Perhaps secure enough to let down their guard a little.

So What’s The Point?

The point here is where does the rapture happen?

There's pre rapture and mid rapture.

He is espousing the rapture has to happen before this battle, because the church and Israel are never here
at the same time in God's good grace.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 57416907

Joel Rosenberg's (posted above) conclusion is:

"While we know these events will all happen in the “last days” (38:16), we cannot determine whether the “War of Gog and Magog” will happen before the Rapture (when the Lord suddenly snatches born again believers in Jesus off of the earth, prior to the Tribulation) or not, because the text does not tell us one way or the other.
That said, I believe it is very possible — not certain, but very possible – that these events will unfold within this generation, and possibly quite soon. We are certainly seeing geopolitical events unfolding in a way consistent with Ezekiel 38-39."

Whereas Jack Kelley believes it has to happen before the gog magog war of Ezekiel 38, based on the belief that Israel will not be back in God's good graces until after this war.

It's easy to see how there is uncertainty concerning the rapture of the church.

There are many bible passages that support Jack's version, however, there remains enough doubt that it could happen later.

But what is for sure is things will change drastically after
this war. God will have the entire world's attention. That
hasn't happened for a long time.

You realize they thought that before 1000 AD too. Christ taught his folks the end of the age would be in about 2000 years and that was not passed thru the teachings at all. This is the change over from the end of one age, into the beginning of the next.

Could you give me some more information on that ?

How can the Jews and Israel sit around expecting the old covenant to continue as they deem, when they rejected the Cornerstone of the New Covenant?

It seems quite clear that Revelation tells us that the false Jews killed the Prophets (drank the blood of the Prophets) and killed the Son.

I'm not accusing all of the Jews of these things. It says these things in the Bible. I don't know how to tell the difference between the "false Jews, the Synagogue of Satan," as Jesus called them; And the authentic Jews.

It does seem that the Jewish Nation in totality rejected the Son.

Thing is, after the great tribulation and during the millennia the jews go back to their old covenant ways.

The temple is cleansed and they continue sacrifices.

God completely forgives them and pours his spirit in them.

This is most likely because he never breaks a promise - i.e.
the one he made to Abraham, and is merciful and gracious.

Although all the jews, after the great tribulation do recognize Jesus as the one and only Messiah.

Here are the concluding marks Jack makes regarding Ezekiel 38 and the 3rd and 4th temples of end times:

Here then is the sequence of end times events according to Ezekiel. Following a long period where the Land had lain desolate, the Jewish people would return in the latter days, as if from the dead. At first they wouldn’t recognize God as the author of this but would claim the credit themselves for their resurrection. Israel’s return to God will come after the battle of Ezekiel 38-39, and the Jewish people will re-establish their covenant (old not new) with Him. This will require a return to Levitical practices and so a Temple will be built.

Following Ezekiel’s instructions as interpreted by the anti-Christ, this Temple will be located north of Jerusalem in Shiloh. Some time between the Battle of Ezekiel 38-39 and the beginning of the Millennium, during the time of the Great Tribulation the Temple will be made desolate,..

Re: All prophecies the bible says will happen in End Times are happening or close to being completed at present
Another prophecy: man is ruining this earth.

This is obviously happening with ever greater speed recently as attested to in this article:

The increasing nuclear threat

Experts generally agree that, of all possible means of destroying humanity, nuclear weapons pose the greatest threat.

And the genie cannot be put back in the bottle. Austrian theologian Ulrich Kortner put it this way: "The nuclear threat . . . constitutes not a temporary, but rather an irrevocable global threat . The actual possibility of an end to all life is now a constituent part of our reality" ( The End of the World: A Theological Interpretation , 1995, pp. 229-230, emphasis added).

Some sober scientists go even farther, saying that nuclear annihilation is inevitable. The late Carl Sagan, perhaps the world's best-known scientist before his death in 1996, wrote that "the development of nuclear weapons and their delivery systems will, sooner or later, lead to global disaster" ( Cosmos , 1980, p. 328).

Bible verses relating to this:

Revelation 18

18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

Earth can only be destroyed with very powerful weapons i.e. nuclear.

It is manmade - not from God i.e. asteroids or anything else capable of destroying the earth.

God will not let man totally obliterate the earth he created. If man were
left to his own devices he would.

The news that the pope has invited muslims to the vatican may
prompt some to think this may be the AC defiling a holy place.

I've heard this already today and after thinking about it decided it has to be in Jerusalem where this takes place because Luke 21 says this happens after all nations surround Jerusalem and then he defiles the temple.

The book of Zechariah also tells us all nations will surround Jerusalem.

This is the word of the LORD concerning Israel. The LORD, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the spirit of man within him, declares: “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness,” declares the LORD. “I will keep a watchful eye over the house of Judah, but I will blind all the horses of the nations. Then the leaders of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘The people of Jerusalem are strong, because the LORD Almighty is their God.’(Zech 12:1-5)

So is this the same verse we find Luke 21 also?

I thought so initially, but Jack Kelley in The end times according to Zechariah tells us something else:

Notice the two separate thoughts here. First the Lord says He’s going to send all the surrounding peoples reeling. I believe this is a reference to the Psalm 83 and Isaiah 17 battles that only involve Israel’s next door neighbors and will set the stage for Ezekiel 38, the battle that will reawaken Israel to the Lord’s presence.

Lets examine Psalm 83 first and see if it has happened already as Wallid Shoebat says it has,
or hasn't happened as others say.

Psalm 83 (New International Version)

1 O God, do not remain silent;
do not turn a deaf ear,
do not stand aloof, O God.
2 See how your enemies growl,
how your foes rear their heads.
3 With cunning they conspire against your people;
they plot against those you cherish.
4 “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation,
so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”

5 With one mind they plot together;
they form an alliance against you—
6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
of Moab and the Hagrites,
7 Byblos, Ammon and Amalek,
Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
8 Even Assyria has joined them
to reinforce Lot’s descendants.

We get Arab nations surrounding Israel, but notice Assyria(syria) is in this list, and not in the Ezekiel 38 gog magog war list.

Wallid Shoebat dissects Psalm 83 as seen from his viewpoint of a on the scene witness:

By Walid Shoebat

I lived it (Psalm 83) during the Six Day War when, a few days prior, we were demonstrating in favor of Gamal Abd Al-Nasser the prime minister of Egypt who called for the destruction of Israel - and just within hours before the battle and before even a bullet was fired - we were shocked to see everyone fleeing. People piled up in cars or ran on foot across the Jordan River. Why? No one knows but, simply put, FEAR struck their hearts as Arab media announced that they were going to blow everything up so it was better for everyone to flee to Jordan.

Look at the verses of Psalm 83 carefully; they are SO ACCURATE and most people do not pay attention to each word:

"So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm." (v15)

There is only ONE element which caused Israel to win and it was definitely not their strength since the Arab armies were outnumbered 100 to 1 and 100 to 1 in weapons. The reason the Arabs lost the war was the fear factor.

Now in Psalm 81 there is an interesting verse:

"The haters of the Lord would pretend submission to Him, But their fate would endure forever " (v15)

So it's speaking of a people who hate God when they think in their mind that they submit to God. The word "Muslims" means "submitters to God"; Islam means "submission".

In essence, when one read Psalm 83:2 "For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head." What this is saying is that the enemies in this Psalm (Ishmaelites, Hagarites, Assyrians, Lot, Edom, and the people of Tyre) who think in their minds they submit to God, in reality are full of pride and indeed are haters of God.

Notice also that this prophecy is future - that the punishment would be forever; it would be at the end of days. So, in reality Psalm 83 has NOT been fully fulfilled; there is another event that must happen in order for it to be fully be fulfilled.
Here are my reasons:

"That [men] may know that thou, whose name alone [is] JEHOVAH, [art] the most high over all the earth. " (Psalm 83:18)

The reason God will allow Israel to be victorious is one reason: to witness with tough love to the Arabs and Muslims. I am one of few who followed this verse, but five-sixths of the future armies will perish and the one-sixth remainder will recognize the God of Israel.

Wallid has a few words to say about Father, Son and Holy Ghost being one - meaning One God.

quoting 1 John 2:22

"Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. " (1 John 2:22)

To him the antichrist will not be Jewish because they do believe the father and holy spirit are one. That the Messiah will come, and of course he will.

Stressing that Muslims do not hold this belief and therefore the antichrist will be a muslim. In other writings he gives more detail why he thinks the AC
will be muslim.

Re: All prophecies the bible says will happen in End Times are happening or close to being completed at present

1 O God, do not remain silent;
do not turn a deaf ear,
do not stand aloof, O God.
2 See how your enemies growl,
how your foes rear their heads.
3 With cunning they conspire against your people;
they plot against those you cherish.
4 “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation,
so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”

5 With one mind they plot together;
they form an alliance against you—
6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
of Moab and the Hagrites,
7 Byblos, Ammon and Amalek,
Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
8 Even Assyria has joined them
to reinforce Lot’s descendants.

We get Arab nations surrounding Israel, but notice Assyria(syria) is in this list, and not in the Ezekiel 38 gog magog war list.

The war begins - already miraculous things started taking place:

By 7:30 AM, two hundred Israeli Air Force (IAF) planes were in the air, heading towards Egyptian airbases. Though flying very low, so as not to be detected by the scores of Arab radar sites, a Jordanian radar facility detected an unusually large number of aircraft heading towards the sea. The officer on duty immediately sent a message, “Inab,” the codeword for war, to Jordan military headquarters in Amman. The message was encoded and passed on to Egypt’s defense minister in Cairo. Miraculously, however, the Egyptian coding frequencies had been changed the previous day, and the Jordanians had not been updated. ..... Though Egypt had sufficient anti-aircraft ammunition to destroy all the attacking Israeli planes, miraculously, no order was given for these missiles to be launched.

Though this war was not a surprise to the Egyptians they suffered great losses, 204 or half of their planes were destroyed.

June 6th through 10th highlights of the 6 day war:

[link to www.chabad.org]

June 6 Israel seizes Gaza, Kalkiliya and Ramallah.
“Ammunition Hill” in East Jerusalem, the mountainous area of northwest Jerusalem, and the fortress at Latrun, all fall into Israeli hands. Jerusalem is now encircled by Israeli forces.

7 Israel captures many cities. The most notable ones: East Jerusalem (including the Old City and the Temple Mount), Sharm El-Sheikh (taken by the Israeli Navy), Judea, Jericho, Gush Etzion and Nablus.

8 Israel takes control of the holy city of Hebron, and Al Qantarah El Sharqiyya in the Sinai Desert. This places most of Sinai in Israeli hands. Jordanian bridges are destroyed.

9 Israel seizes the Straits of Tiran. Israel breaks through the Golan plateau.

10 Israel captures the strategic Golan Heights and Msada. A ceasefire goes into effect at 6:30 PM.

The mountain tops that were strategically utilized to murder Jews in the Holy Land were now in the hands of the Israelis.

One thing I am not clear on with the 6th day war.

Although Wallid Shoebat does say he lived it, why when you investigate the countries involved most say 4 and 5 at most.

Could this be another war besides Psalm 83.

After all there are several wars listed in the bible
regarding Israel, and many miraculous occurrences during them.

What are Psalm 83 Nations?

Psalm 83:5-8 list 7 nations that will “form an alliance against Israel”

Vs 4 says, “Come they say, ‘Let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more”

Vs. 5 says “With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you”

1.) Tents of Edom = Modern Day Southern Jordan
2.) The Ishmaelites = Modern Day Saudi Arabia
Moab = Modern Day Central Jordan
3.) The Hagrites = Modern Day Egypt
4.) Byblos = Modern Day Northern Lebanon
Ammon = Modern Day Northern Jordan
Amalek = Modern Day Sinai Penninsula
5.) Philistia = Modern Day Gaza (Hamas)
People of Tyre = Modern Day Southern Lebanon (Hezbollah)
6 & 7.) Assyria = Modern Day Syria and Iraq

Any one that knew bible prophecy was certain Israel would come out victorious, and indeed they did.

As foretold many thousand years before - Israel will not be defeated.

"That very same day, thousands of miles away in Brooklyn, New York, more than 20,000 children and adults gathered on the streets to celebrate the festive day of Lag BaOmer and Jewish unity. In his address to the gathering, the Lubavitcher Rebbe spoke forcefully about the situation in Israel. The Rebbe emphatically declared: “G‑d is guarding them and sending them His blessings and salvation in extraordinary measure. The people of Israel will emerge from the current situation with remarkable success.”

[link to www.chabad.org]

Headlines in Israel were assuring people that God would protect them:

As foreign embassies called for their citizens to immediately evacuate from Israel, and foreign airlines were contemplating terminating their flights to Israel, the Israeli daily Yediot Achronot carried a surprisingly uplifting headline: “G‑d Is Watching over the Holy Land, and Salvation Is Near,” the headline screamed. The article contained the Rebbe’s message: “There is no reason to be afraid, and there is no reason to frighten others. I am displeased with the exaggerations being disseminated and the panicking of the citizens in Israel . . .”

By the end of the 6 day war Israel had recaptured Jerusalem:

The Old City had been under Jordanian control since 1948. For nineteen years Jews had been banned from visiting its holy sites, including the Western Wall, where Jews had prayed for thousands of years. On this day Jerusalem was reunited, and once again a united Jerusalem was the capital of the Jewish people.

Of course, if it is part of God's plan that they build the temple there - then they had to have control of it.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 57416907

It bears repeating that against enormous odds, Israel ends victorious; with eye witness accounts of the many miracles performed by God:

The tenuous nation of Israel stands on alert and the brink of despair. All is quiet. Only a recognized entity for 19 years, the country faces not one, but four well supplied enemies. Outnumbered and under equipped, government estimates of causalities range from 10,000 to total annihilation. The day is June 5th, 1967.

Opposing the small nation is a sizable coalition of forces, supported and supplied primarily by the USSR and Britain. This combined army stands strong at roughly 465,000 troops, 2,880 tanks and 900 aircraft compared to Israel's 264,000 soldiers (of which 200,000 are reservists), 800 tanks, and 300 aircraft. (Israeli History, Six Day War). Days before the war, President Nasser of Egypt declares “The armies of Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon are poised on the borders of Israel...to face the challenge, while standing behind us are the armies of Iraq, Algeria, Kuwait, Sudan and the whole Arab nation. This act will astound the world. Today they will know that the Arabs are arranged for battle, the critical hour has arrived. We have reached the stage of serious action and not declarations” (Liebler, p. 60) Note: Looks like this most likely is Psalm 83 war with the
countries listed above.

Israel's one hope, its allies the United States and Britain, stay out of the conflict in both military might and support due to conflicting interests in the middle east and the stigma of the Vietnam war. To make this clear to the world, the US state department declares "Our position is neutral in thought, word and deed" (AP, June 5, 1967). Planning for the worst case scenario, Israel begins to convert its national parks into mass burial grounds and school children dig sand to protect their homes. The UN removes its troops from the Sinai and Israel stands alone.

[link to www.thechurchesofgod.com]

God's hand is protecting Israel:

For example, a few days before the war, the Commander of Egyptian forces in the Sinai was ordered to change commanders in most of his brigades, putting in charge officers who didn't know the terrain or their forces.

On the very morning of June 5th, three hours before the Israeli air strike, Egyptian intelligence did in fact issue a warning that an Israeli air attack would begin "within minutes." At that point, Egypt still had time to get its planes off the ground and save them. The message reached the command bunker in Cairo. An aide-de-camp signed a copy, but no one bothered to look for the Commander in Chief.

On the same morning of the attack, Egyptian officers stationed at the radar station in northern Jordan picked up the scrambling Israeli aircraft, and sent a red alert message to Cairo. The sergeant in the decoding room of the supreme command tried to decipher the message using the previous day's code and failed.

Colonel Uri Banari tells his eyewitness account of the conquest of Shechem:
“At the entrance to Shechem stood thousands of Arabs who waved white handkerchiefs and clapped their hands. In our naivete, we returned greetings and smiles. We entered the town and wondered: We are advancing and there is no disorder, no panic, the local armed guards stand by with rifles in their hands keeping order, and the crowds are cheering.”

“Suddenly something happened which changed the entire picture in a moment. One of our officers wanted to disarm an Arab guard. When the latter refused, our officer fired a shot in the air. At that moment, all the crowds disappeared and streets emptied out. The Arabs began sniper fire.”

“I didn’t comprehend what had transpired. Only later, did I understand. The residents of Shechem thought that we were the Iraqi forces who were due to arrive from the direction of Jordan. The numerous enemy tanks were situated on the west side of Shechem. They woke up to their error very late.”
--------
“The Arabs were surprised; the fear of the Jews fell upon them. In Hevron, and in Shechem, in Jenin and in Jericho the Arabs were heavily armed. There was not even one small Arab village without arms. With great haste, the Arabs, however, hid their weapons and didn’t consider using them. They raised their hands up, and flew white flags of surrender from every edifice. The fear of G-d fell upon hundreds of thousands of proud Arabs, who were filled with hatred and loathing for Israel. Only yesterday, they had sworn to fight until their last drop of blood.”
-------
Suddenly the whistling of an approaching enemy shell was heard, and the shell, indeed, scored a direct hit on the vehicle.

But the Arab shell did not explode. It remained perched atop the pile of Israeli shells in the truck.
-------
"An Egyptian half track appeared before us filled with soldiers and mounted with machine guns on every side. We had only light weapons with a few bullets that couldn’t stop the half track for a second. We couldn’t turn back, so we stood there in despair, waited for the first shot, and for lack of a better idea, aimed our guns at them.

But the shots didn’t come.

The half track came to a halt, and we decided to cautiously approach it. We found 18 armed soldiers inside sitting with guns in hand, with a petrified look on their faces. They looked at us with great fear as though begging for mercy. I shouted ‘Hands up!’ As we were marching them and I had returned to a state of calm, I asked the Egyptian sergeant next to me, ‘Tell me, why didn’t you shoot at us?’ He answered, ‘I don’t know. My arms froze – they became paralyzed. My whole body was paralyzed, and I don’t know why.’
It turned out that these soldiers didn’t know that the Straits of Tiran were already in Israeli hands; why didn’t they elminiate us? I don’t have an answer. How can one say that G-d didn’t help us.”
--------
from a commentor in forum:''[...] **we grew up in a church that sends missionaries to Israel and one of them have some fantastic stories from veterans and survivors of that war. There were numerous sightings and testimonies of angel sightings (both from Arabs and Israelis) in the battlefield during that time (there are some online).

-------
Haaretz Newspaper’s Bottom Line
Following his blow-by-blow analysis, the military correspondent for the secular Haaretz Newspaper summed up the 6-Day War with the admission: “Even a non-religious person must admit this war was fought with help from heaven.” [ibid, p. 445]

Re: All prophecies the bible says will happen in End Times are happening or close to being completed at present

All tend to agree that the Psalm 83 war has already happened, but what about the Isaiah 17 war?

What do both have to do with what Zechariah is saying?

What does it have to do with Ezekiel 38 war?

All 3 are to reawaken Israel to the Lord's presence.

We most certainly saw the six day war did.

The most prominent verse in Isaiah 17 that most people recognize and refer to is Damascus will be in ruins.

Since this hasn't happened yet - we can assume this is still in the future.

There are some who claim it has happened - since there are people who do argue all bible prophecy has been fulfilled.

However I agree with the experts who say it hasn't happened yet.

Let's look at Isaiah 17 first:

The burden of Damascus.

Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city,
and it shall be a ruinous heap.
2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken:
they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down,
and none shall make them afraid.
3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim,
and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria:
they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the Lord of hosts.

4 And in that day it shall come to pass,
that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin,
and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.
5 And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn,
and reapeth the ears with his arm;
and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim.
6 Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree,
two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough,
four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the Lord God of Israel.

7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker,
and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
8 And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands,
neither shall respect that which his fingers have made,
either the groves, or the images.

9 In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough,
and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel:
and there shall be desolation.
10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation,
and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength,
therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants,
and shalt set it with strange slips:
11 in the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow,
and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish:
but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief
and of desperate sorrow.

12 Woe to the multitude of many people,
which make a noise like the noise of the seas;
and to the rushing of nations,
that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!
13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters:
but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off,
and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind,
and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.
14 And behold at eveningtide trouble;
and before the morning he is not.
This is the portion of them that spoil us,
and the lot of them that rob us.

Bible Expert Joel Rosenberg Delivers 3 Reasons Why Those Dismissing Syria-Related Prophecies May Be Dead Wrong

.......

Rosenberg, who believes that Isaiah 17:1-3, among other verses, highlight what’s to come, attempted to poke holes in counterarguments, charging that those who dismiss the view that the Bible holds many keys to the End Times fail to see the full picture.

As a refresher, Isaiah 17:1-3 reads, “See, Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins. The cities of Aroer will be deserted and left to flocks, which will lie down, with no one to make them afraid. The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim, and royal power from Damascus; the remnant of Aram will be like the glory of the Israelites,’ declares the Lord Almighty.” Considering the current international conflict, this is obviously capturing attention.

Some critics dismiss the application of these verses to future prophecy and note that Damascus has been attacked numerous times throughout its history. Thus, they believe prophecy has already been fulfilled. Some hold that there’s no remaining foresight at any level and simply believe that what is described already unfolded in 732 B.C.

Joel says yes, Damascus Has Been Attacked Before, But…“The question is whether the actual text has come to fulfillment.”

"While he agrees that the 732 B.C. attack undeniably unfolded (Isaiah 7 and 8 predict this event, Rosenberg believes), he also holds that the prophesy in Isaiah 17:1-3 hasn’t yet been fulfilled, because Damascus continued to be a city following the attack by the Assyrians — and it remains an active and inhabited locality even today.

And Rosenberg Says Isaiah Didn’t Receive the Prophecy Until After 732 B.C.

Then there is the question of the word Aorer.

Joel Rosenberg believes it a word not a city:

"If Aroer is a separate location, critics could argue – pending there’s evidence of an attack – then the verses have already come to fruition or are baseless, as Aroer is no longer a standing locality. But Rosenberg tends to lean against the idea that the word is referencing a specific place, siding with those who believe it really just means “ruins.”

“I personally lean against the idea that it’s referencing these specific three small largely unknown places…not a lot happened there of Biblical import,” he said."

However Joel Richardson has this to say about it:

"Second, “the cities of Aorer” will be so adversely affected by the Isaiah 17 judgment, that they will be “forsaken”. A survey of the opinions of commentators, Biblical scholars and Bible atlases tell us that Aorer is a reference to the region of northern modern day Jordan. This would include the capitol city of Amman."

If this prophecy is to be in the future as both Joels believe - then it has to exist in some form.

Re: All prophecies the bible says will happen in End Times are happening or close to being completed at present
...

We've looked at the Psalm 83 six day war, Jack also references the Isaiah 17 battle.

5 And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn,
and reapeth the ears with his arm;
and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim.

12 Woe to the multitude of many people,
which make a noise like the noise of the seas;
and to the rushing of nations,
that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!
13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters:
but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off,
and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind,
and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.
14 And behold at eveningtide trouble;
and before the morning he is not.
This is the portion of them that spoil us,
and the lot of them that rob us.

One of these is Joel Rosenberg.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 57416907

The Isaiah 17 prophecy is a difficult prophecy to interpret. These 3 authors are not in agreement
that it is a war between Israel and her neighbors.

Here is how each concludes their perspective positions.

Joel Rosenberg:

There’s No Definitive Timeline
“Neither Isaiah 17 nor Jeremiah 49 give us any detail about precisely when these prophecies will come to pass,” Rosenberg said. “We know that they would happen prior to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, because there aren’t judgments that are happening during the Millennial Kingdom” (Christ’s reign before the final judgment).

These events, he insists, will happen sometime between today and Jesus’ return.

Jack Kelley:

Notice the two separate thoughts here. First the Lord says He’s going to send all the surrounding peoples reeling. I believe this is a reference to the Psalm 83 and Isaiah 17 battles that only involve Israel’s next door neighbors and will set the stage for Ezekiel 38.

Joel Richardson:

In conclusion then, this passage is not speaking of an imminent attack of Damascus. Isaiah 17 is simply one piece of the larger section of Isaiah’s prophecy (chapters 13-23) which speaks of judgment not only against Israel, but all of her adversarial Gentile neighbors.

When will all of this occur? If one examines this larger portion of Isaiah’s prophecy in its proper context, rather pulling out a single verse here or there, then it is clear that its ultimate context is the Day of the LORD, the judgment against the nations, and the return of Jesus. On this point, I find myself in full agreement with Dr. Tommy Ice:

It appears to be an event that will occur at the end of the seven-year tribulation as the Lord not only judges and destroy Damascus, but all of Israel’s historic enemies that surround her. If one examines the broader context of Isaiah 17 and take account of the section where it is located, it becomes clear that it is a section in which the Lord prophesizes (sic) judgment upon all the Gentile nations that have opposed Israel. This will all happen at the end of the tribulation in conjunction with the second coming of Christ to the earth.

Re: All prophecies the bible says will happen in End Times are happening or close to being completed at present
Many refute bible prophecies of past - but we have tons of prophecies being fulfilled and partially fulfilled right before our very eyes. All foretold thousands of years ago. What are chances of anyone being absolutely accurate on everything being fulfilled today. Zilch. To paraphrase my pastor, who listed 30 prophecies fulfilled of Jesus, was 10 with 100 zeros behind it. That is for 30 prophecies. I am going to present a lot more than that.

The important thing to note is, the bible says "all" these things occurring at the same time, will be an indication that we are indeed in end times.

Here's a partial list - after some items listed, I will give a reference where it is in the bible - mostly Dan 7 - 12, Math 24, and Revelation 6 - 16:

1) Israel will become a nation again, after being conquered and inhabitants dispersed throughout the world. This has never been done by another nation. Ezekiel 37:22, Jeremiah 30 - 31 Isaiah 43 etc

2) Globalization and New World order. We already are a global economic world order, and some even refer to people in the world as citizens of the world. It's obvious we are headed to a new world order. Rev 6 - lst seal, Rev 13

3) God told Abraham he would be the father of many great nations and descendants too numerous to count. At present the population of world 7 billion and counting - why is this important? Because all inhabitants of the earth will be required to take mark of beast-see next item. (rev 13). Geneis 15 - 17

4) The global government will be able to track all the people in the world. This was impossible until now. How? - Computer databases. Apparently - we are already doing this. Rev 13

5) We now have the ability world wide to worship an image of the AC. This was impossible until now - How? With webcams, TV, satilitte etc. This will be a worldwide requirement.

How will this be enforced - we already have cameras in our TV's, iphone etc. Rev 13

6) Jesus said we will be able to SEE the AC defile the holy place, and the 2 witnesses lying in the streets in Jerusalem, and SEE them ascend into heaven. Impossible until now. Math 24, Dan 7 - 12, Rev 11:7

7) knowledge will increase - and how. As described above. Dan 12

8) Jesus said nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom - whole wolrd seems to be fracturing. It's involved in wars, threats of wars, riots etc - Math 24

9) people will run to and fro - they do. Dan 12
10) Israel will fly into the wilderness on the wings of an eagle - we have airplanes today..
11) evil and iniquity abounds - porn etc biggest business on internet, amongst other things. Mathew 24, Romans 1.
12) people will worship the creation and not the creature - God is being mocked, hollywood stars, and sports figures idolized.
13) goat in Daniel 8:5 will move across the whole earth without touching the ground - drones, airplanes.
14) people will hate Jesus and christians Math 24
15) christians will be persecuted. Math 24
16) children will become disobedient to authority and parents. Romans 1
17) food costs soar. Rev 6
18) many will be offended - Seems everyone these days is offended. Math 24s
19) Iran will become a great nation - Dan 8:4
20) Jerusalem will be a burden to all - zachariah - 12:3
21) Israel's land will be divided - gaza and more to come
22) all nation will turn against Israel - Obama is abandoning Israel today. Luke 21
23) Roman empire is revived and will becomes great again - Dan 7:7
24) wild beasts will turn on humans - as we move in on their land. - Rev 6
25) people approve of and encourage evil. Romans 1:18- 32
26) good becomes evil and evil good - moral relativism happening today. Some even claim there is no evil.
27) the gospel will be preached throughout all nations - it is (internet). mathew 24:14
28) many will be turned to righteousness Dan 12
29) christians will warn we are in end times - but many will not believe it Dan 12
30) many false prophets shall arise - they have. Math 24:11
31) disasterous pestilence and disease - antibiotics losing effective, new strains bird flu, swine flu etc.
32) people will openly mock God - saying where is your God - he hasn't shown up - never will. Jude 1:18
33) there will be virtual money - pretty much there with credit and debit cards.
34) love will grow cold

more to come, with examples

One thing that is a guarantee the bible is 100% accurate
is the little nation of Israel. Surrounded by nations that hate her and want to destroy her, and yet they can't. God says he will protect her and he is.

The 6 day war shows his hand of protection and his word is true. NO ONE will defeat her NO ONE:

How can one say that G-d didn’t help us.”

from a commentor in forum:''[...] **we grew up in a church that sends missionaries to Israel and one of them have some fantastic stories from veterans and survivors of that war. There were numerous sightings and testimonies of angel sightings (both from Arabs and Israelis) in the battlefield during that time (there are some online).

Then there is the question of where does this fit in our end times time line.

It hasn't occurred yet. Israel still has to contend with 4 wars we know of:

Ezekiel 38 and all armies of nations surrounding Jerusalam, so now there is another one!!

If we are in end-times, as bible states we are - then they have to happen in pretty quick succession.

And last of all the war of Armageddon.

Joel Rosenberg points out the destruction of Damascus is encountered both in Isaiah 17
and Jeriemiah 43.

Jeremiah 43:

23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.

24 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.

25 How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!

26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the Lord of hosts.

27 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.

39 But it shall come to pass in the latter days,
The desired
