Re: Prayers Needed For My Mother, New Update Page 1.
Thank you my friends. I am so torn up right now, I don't know if I can stop crying. I am not a drinker, but I think I have a bottle of Kahlua in the downstairs cabinet, that has my name on it. :( I think a nice tall glass of Kahlua and milk with lots of ice just might be replacing my tea, real soon.

Go for whatever gets you through, I know you are in a terrible moment right now.

Right now, prayers are being sent from me to Our Lord God for Marian, your mother.

Her name is the name of the mother of Jesus.hf

No one knows when this kind of illness will strike them or someone close to them. Any of us could be the one facing the diagnosis or the one planning how to cope.

So ongoing prayers from me to God about your mother.

Please let us know what she decides to do. At her age, the myeloma may be less aggressive, I don't know. Find out what you can about how her age might affect prognosis with and without chemotherapy.

Years ago, an elderly person I knew had chemo. Had a terrible time. But he is still alive 15 years later with no lasting side effects.
 Quoting: beeches

My mother is already weak, and only 78 pounds. I don't think she can handle the chemo.
 Quoting: tiger1

Maybe this is her way of letting go of life possibly knowing deep inside that the chemo will kill her. Of course, she wouldn't tell that to anyone but the subconscious mind is very powerful. So sorry you are going through this. It must be very difficult.

Yes, that may be, and so many people with spirit would much rather go out "fighting" and by treating the illness they feel more in control of their own fate.

I think I would fight for that last breath, at least I hope I would...hf

I am so sorry, OP.

I read your update and your mom has made her position clear.

It sucks to lose someone.

It really does.

But it is her life, her death, and you have to respect her decisions, even to the end.

You could hold her down and force pot oil and iodine down her throat, as well as other treatments but, if she has already decided to go, it will all be for nothing.

I know, because I have seen it.

It is crazy to watch.

One week. This woman was diagnosed and refused treatment. She should have had at least 6 months to a year left in her, and she willed herself dead in a week.

There really was no medical reason as to how this could have happened. The cancer wasn't the cause of her death. No one could find anything in her autopsy as a COD. Her heart just stopped.

The one chance I see here is that they are now refusing her traditional medical care. If she has NO other choice, she might...might... now be open to alternative treatments.

Approach her with this fact. She really doesn't have anything left to lose on earth, because she will lose her life here if she does nothing.

If not, just love her. Be with her while you can. And let her make her peace with you. That is the one gift you can give her.

Peace.

Re: Prayers Needed For My Mother, New Update Page 1.
My mother has been diagnosed with myeloma. She has to go back to the doctors next week to find out what stage, and what treatment options are available. My older brother is handling her doctors at this point, but he is going in the hospital for a hip replacement on April 8th, and will be out of action for a while.I will have to take over at that time.
My mother is 91 years old, has congestive heart failure, and is on oxygen. She only weighs 78 pounds. IMO,she needs to do alternatives, as I believe the chemo will kill her a lot sooner than the cancer. It is up to her, as to what she wants to do. She is quite competent, and can make her own choices.

I ask for prayers from you all. This horrible news is on top of other bad family news we have got today. My daughters are devastated over this.I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone.

UPDATE:

My mother went back to the oncologist yesterday. She was supposed to have tests done to see how far the cancer has spread. The oncologist has done a turnaround. He will not do any more tests, and he will not treat my mother for the cancer. She has to go back and see him in 6 weeks. He repeatedly cited her age. She WANTS to be treated, and told him that her age should have nothing to do with it all.
So, it is what it is. I am surprised at this, as they were really pushing the chemo last week, and she WAS scheduled to have the tests done yesterday.
As for alternatives or special herbal brownies, forget it. She wants the chemo. :(

This could be a blessing in disguise. Chemo works on some, on others it kills..even those it works on it usually leaves them with other disorders and in excruciating pain.

My family is the same way, they all trust doctors and buy into the system. The fact that we don't vaccinate the kids blows their collective minds...

I suggest showing her G Edward Griffin's DVD called "A world without cancer". I can send it to you if you don't have it. Even if she watches it and doesn't want to try laetrile treatment, it may open her mind up to other alternative medicines.

Continuing to pray!

So very sorry to hear of this. I think Davvi has some good advice there. Sometimes (I) have to be very aggressive with these people. I don't know if you have, but I surely don't mind doing it.

I have prayed and will pray.

My grandmother lived for 20 years after being diagnosed with myeloma.

She didn't have chemo but just let things run its course.

How old was she, and how was her general health when she was diagnosed?

One thing I forgot to add in the update. The doctor told my mother that her cancer was "mild", or words something like that, and she had to be more advanced to get treated. He said this after she was giving him a piece of her mind about the age factor. As far as I am concerned, this is pure b.s. They want to treat the cancer as soon as it is discovered, NOT when it gets advanced.

My father died from cancer. He did chemo for 3 years but it never made it go away. He died at home in hospice. We were with him while he died for 3 days. He was in a coma and had seizures ever 4 hours for 3 days. On the 3rd day he died a seemingly hurtful and hard death. BUT I really don't think he was "there" for those 3 days, it was just his body dying.

Death is a hell of a thing esp. if you're witness to it, the absurdity of Life. If I was you I'd say everything that needs to be said and be a comfort to your Mommy.

Just remember that you and all those that have died will one day be reunited and that's a comforting thought.

I am not surprised they are not doing chemo as they probably found out insurance company would not pay. I think you are right, the chemo would be way to harmful in many ways at her age. Have you looked up the baking soda therapy on youtube? I lost my dad last year to cancer, he wanted chemo all the way up to the end, but they wouldn't give it to him either at a certain point, I really tried hardhf to get him to do the baking soda thing, but he wouldn't have it. May G-d bless you, your mom and your whole family through this difficult time.
