Alcohol ruined my marriage to the only woman I'll probably ever love.

The funny thing is everyone is thinking I'm the drunk right now but it was her. She was and still is an alcoholic. She wanted to spend every night after work and every day on the weekends in the bar. We easily spent $400-500 a week in that shithole bar.

I was not much better but I loved her and wanted to spend time with her so I went along with it for years. When I decided I didn't want to live like that anymore and wanted her to slow down a little bit our relationship was over.

Even when we stayed home or had people out to our house she would get shitfaced.

We had some of the nastiest fights and had no idea what we fought about the next day. She would fuck something up in the house and blame me. She burned a huge hole in our new sofa one night when we had friends over. The next day our friends were out again and she started yelling at me about the hole and my friend's wife said "you did that". Too funny

My point is that as long as you let drinking and drug use get out of hand to the point where you lose control of your thought process you will never have a good relationship. If your girl is ready to chill and you don't want to lose her you should probably chill too.

A woman is much better to hold than a bottle.

Happy birthday. I hope you are in a position to enjoy your life now but always plan for tomorrow. You don't want to lose someone who is that important to you.

Peace

Wow
Your story reminds me of that movie "barfly" with (your wife) as Faye Dunaway and (you) as Micky Rourke.
