Megachurch pastor resigns. "Citing Moral failing"
Another one bites the dust...

Fort Lauderdale, Florida (WPLG Miami) The senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale has resigned after confessing to cheating on his wife, according to WPLG Miami.

Pastor Bob Coy, 58, reportedly confessed a "moral failing which disqualifies him from continuing his leadership role at the church" to Calvary leaders on Wednesday. A board meeting was called the next day, when he resigned.

Coy, who has led the church since its founding in 1985, said he will now focus his full attention on his personal relationship with God and his family. The radio, television and digital media that distributes Coy's teachings have also been suspended

If he fully repents and goes through a cleansing. Will god not forgive him....This is the best thing about loving Jesus. You can do whatever you want...Repent every Sunday and God will forgive your sins!!

hmmm...Good discussion..

"Morial failing" huh? They should make these guys come out and tell exactly what they did if they ever want to be "redeemed" back into service. "Moral failing" could be anything from watching Cinemax videos to molestation. The congregation deserves to know exactly what the person who is leading them is capable of.

Bob was a good man who built that place from nothing. He was loved by many people and did so much good it was unbelievable. From financially helping the poor here and overseas, to programs for visiting and helping the elderly, to actually purchasing homes and apartment complexes to house battered and abused single mothers where they could raise their children together in safety and support. This guy was aces.

Unfortunately we all make mistakes. If King David was alive today he'd be in prison. Let's not cast the first stone. He was looked up to by so many people, I know he must be absolutely destroyed right now.

He made the right decision. A minister is supposed to be an example to the congregation.

He admitted his failure and honesty is paramount for true Christian.

This will be a good lesson for the congregation on forgiveness.

Two thumbs up for that minister.

I hope that he makes his wrongs right and is reinstated.

Just depends on who you refer to as God or Evil. The God of the Bible ordered his followers to murder thousands of people. The God of your Bible "the so called perfect one' had a major flaw....I am a Jealous God. The God of your Bible "Who supposedly knows all" allowed Eve to be Deceived and then Deceived Adam. This so called Satan "The Adversary" Real name Lucifer did not seem to kill to often. Pretty lame considering he just Damned all of Mankind. Your Jesus never claimed to be God but Christians take this to be fact. His divinity was voted on by Constantine and the Religious figures of the day at the council of Nicea. Get a grip.

Bob was apparently having multiple affairs. I'm in no way trying to excuse his behavior, wealthy and powerful men have engaged in infidelity for eons, this is nothing new. The problem is when you head an organization that builds its identity around Christian values, these kinds of temptations cannot overwhelm you or everything you've built could be destroyed in an instant. Bob should've known better.

Knowing him, the worst part is that he knows he will become a name people bring up to discredit Christians. He's likely beside himself with anguish and remorse.

Horse-shit.

What it comes down to is directly contradictory to the Bible's instructions. Leaders in the church are to be held to a higher standard, and second and most important, the Bible specifically instructs the church to put its own house in order first.

Out of 1 Corinthians 5:
But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? But those who are outside, God judges. Remove the wicked man from among yourselves.

The reason the tendency towards infidelity is so strong among these "christian" pastors is all the way back to Original Sin. Female worship has been strong in the church for at least 200 years in the modern era. You simply don't get to be a pastor anymore in the church without the approval of the Great Female, that is, the women of the church. It's a demographic that MUST be pleased in a Democracy, which is why Democracy never works.

But by definition of their female-worship, it leads directly not only to the Christian females mass exodus into Islam, but also obviously to a lot of infidelity.

This clown can be forgiven and restored, but if they're smart he cannot ever be let lead again. Paul Shepperd is a prime example of how this type of sin will forever change a person, from a man of God to permanently stained and tilted in Satan's favor.

"Multiple affairs" is not something you "accidentally" do. It's a sign of a pattern. It's not like he was at a conference with a long-time friend and they let passion get the better of them once. This is a guy who obviously actively sought out "multiple" women to defile his marriage vows with. Sorry, pal, no justification for that.

It's like I saw a poster on this site state once before, (paraphrasing) "If the guys who are 'called' to preach and have had 'spiritual transformations' can't even take it seriously, why should anyone else?"

Re: Megachurch pastor resigns. "Citing Moral failing"
As much as I do not like Mega Churches and rich pastors, his forgiveness is between him and God.

I think he did do they right thing by leaving, although the other AC's are right, he probably did only admit and leave because he knew he was caught. Regardless, he did leave which was the right thing to do.

The fact is, every person on Earth sins, and while we were yet sinners, Christ died on the cross for us. So to act religious and treat this guy's sins worst than your own is ridiculous. Throughout the Bible, the most important people are criminals who repented sincerely and were used by God.
