I seriously do not understand why people bring kids into this world

Since when is it your business what others choose to do with their private parts?

The higher the population numbers, the higher the prices. Until you senseless apes learn to either keep your legs closed or used contraceptives, prices for groceries, gas, cars, houses, and clothingwill continue to increase, and more jobs will have to be made which will screw up our economy even more since we already don't have enough freakin jobs.

I have kids. Grown now. They bring me a great deal of joy, seeing a little of me and my wife, and even our parents, in them. They are smart and have loads of common sense. I couldn't be prouder of them. Whenever they are over we all just can't stop talking and laughing. They are "awake" to what is going on in the world too.

I would not change a thing. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Who in their right mind would even consider having their child subjected to the horror that is this world.

Some people say(including my 'friends'), that I personally have been selfish because my partner and I haven't had children. We have had many arguments about this matter.

Even though my partner feels the exact same way as I do, it becomes impossible to talk to them, and they believe what they want to believe.
However, we(my partner and I)have seen the inherent problems in having children.

I have yet to understand what actual valid reason there is for having children!

I love my babies to death, they are the most incredible people I have ever known, but I feel incredible guilt every day for having brought them into a world that is so ugly and hateful and corrupt and generally fucked up.

My daughter is almost 18 and much more aware of the realities of the world than I was at her age. I would be surprised if she ever has children, because she doesn't want to condemn another human to this existence of suffering and greed and hate and slavery.

I truly believe this is why they have to pull the wool over people's eyes, keep them dumb and out of the loop.

No caring, sane, empathetic human being would deliberately subject another soul to this existence knowing all that their is to know.

I get what you're saying, and I wouldn't trade my kids for anything, but this place is a mess and it seems highly irresponsible to condemn people to this experience.

A lot of thought should be given to procreation, and most people create more people without even having a grasp on what it means to be a cog in this machine.

However you all do realize that a study was done a few years back about families here in the US right??? They found out that the Average White family had 1 child, The average Black family had 5 kids, The average Hispanic families had 6 kids. The average Chinese family had 4 kids. This means that white folks will be very few after a few generations, so for those of you planning on not having kids, well I am sure you are white, and soon very soon in a few years the minority race will be white. The White race is dying out and fast. So go ahead keep boasting that folks shouldn't have kids, maybe then when the white race here in the US is almost gone people will realize what a stupid idea it was.

Every baby born will have to grow up, experience this hell that has been created by us and those who came before us. They are real sentient beings, not just pawns in a game or statistics.

There is so much beauty in this world but most of you are too cynical and jaded to see it. The important things are not the conspiracies or the bullshit politics, but the people we love and the times we can spend with them. That is what life is all about. It's about sharing the beautiful things with those we love.

I had kids so I could share with them everything this world has to offer. I wish to make them happy, but also experience just enough unhappiness that they don't take comfort for granted.

Yes, there are horrors on this planet I hope they never have to experience. I pray they never have to experience true hunger or extreme pain, but I've had both and it doesn't diminish my life experience at all.

Do me a favor and just stop and look in amazement at all there is it see and experience. Look at the sky, feel the sun and the wind in your face. Breath the air deeply and marvel that you are alive. Look at the plants, bugs, animals and all the life that exist right outside your door. Be amazed that for all that is fucked up in this world, it still all works and life goes on.

Your existence is all about doing the best with the hand you are delt. For many that means overcoming the bad experiences and replacing them with good ones. Some let those bad experiences take over and use them as an excuse to never truly live. Others hope to have children and hopefully have some control over the hand the children are delt. Dealing them a better hand then they themselves were given.

The experience of being human is an amazing thing. Enjoy it while you can. Be in awe of it. Who wouldn't want to share it?

Maybe we evolved too fast. Maybe we should die out. Look what we have done to our planet. We are so intelligent and so sensitive, but look how we treat one another. The more intelligent and sensitive we are the harder it is to endure. This is why the intelligent people are the ones not having children.

I hate when people say they have kids so that they'll have someone to take care of them when they get old, to have a minituare version of them running around, to continue their worthless bloodline, to strengthen their marriage, so that their parents can become grandparents, etc. People are so fucking selfish, subjecting souls to this hellhole for their benefit. Just a week ago I was standing in the silence of the Redwood Forest in the middle of a grove of trees that has been on this planet since before human civilization emerged.

It was an amazingly profound place to be.

The problem is that we are systematically destroying all that is good and with each new life we are adding to the problems that we haven't yet figured out a solution for.

The amount of hate and ugliness in this world is only getting worse.

I'm jaded and cynical because of what this world is. My experiences with the negative and my observations of what has happened in my lifetime assures me that this place will not get better. I don't want to condemn anyone else to witness the fall that is coming.

And I am lucky enough to live in the US and have first world problems.

I can't even begin to imagine the suffering that takes place in Afghanistan where drones drop bombs from the clear blue sky to kill children, or in Central and South America where you're lucky to feed your kids, not have to prostitute them out or have them kidnapped and used as drug runners or beheaded for failing to comply.

Then there's India and Asia where we've polluted the environment so much that children are born deformed and lack even the most basic of medical care.

The world is an ugly, ugly place.

People try to tie a ribbon around it, but the beauty is diminishing and the true nature of our species is taking over.

I'm glad that you had a wonderful life and your children had wonderful lives, but that is not the case for the vast majority of humanity.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with people opting out of adding to the human population at this moment in history.

It's easy for you to say these things because you live a comfortable American lifestyle where everything is at your hands. But for the children overseas who are still involved in child labor, sex trafficking, and living in poverty conditions couldn't give two shits about the sunset or the trees in the wind. Most of the world lives in horrific conditions and you are asking people to ignore this and look at the sky. When we look down from the sky we all see this world for what it really is : an infested hellhole.

It is easy for me to say and I am very thankful that it is. Another reason why I felt it was a good idea to have children. I do live a comfortable life with first world problems. Even though I'm barely making middle class, we still have each other in the end. Even the poorest in the USA have it better than most of the world. Are you suggesting that having a child in this country (where we have agreed will give them a a better life than most places) because there are other places in this world that are horrible? I don't understand.

I'm not asking anyone to ignore anything. I'm saying to look at the beauty in spite of the horror. Know that the bad exists and always remember it could be worse. Soak up the good, so when that day comes, you can look back and keep your sanity. Appreciate every little moment of happiness and life that you have because it is precarious. It is not guaranteed. It can be taken away at any minute.

I'm sorry everyone here is so miserable. Happiness can be found everywhere, you just need to be able to look for it. I gotta keep telling myself that when the negativity gets me down. Life is too short to dwell on the bad. Guess that makes me an optimist.

No, there is nothing wrong with choosing not having children. I guess I was just answering the OP. They couldn't understand why someone would bring a child into this world. I was just clearing up why I thought it wasn't such a horrible thing to do.

I don't think people give the earth enough credit. One thing I noticed about natural laws and science is that equations like to be balanced. If the human race gets too out of whack, I think the earth has systems in place to smack us back down. I also don't think humans are as important as we think we are.
