Well, in reality the whole idea of the DoD pushing what initially was the military net on to the masses doesn't seem that it worked as planned, since they cannot even start their damn war yet and the other hand, George "Man In The Middle" Soros, the "Conscience of the World" as he calls himself, when embarking on his ambitious crusade for Spring Revolutions worldwide when he started utilizing in the best possible sense the what used to be military net, with the aids of Facebook and Twitter eventually didn't yield the much expected results that the military establishment was hoping for.

The whole idea behind Facebook and Google was that assets would have to be provided to the people in the guise of Social Network Tools so that people would later turn the details of their personal lives in to the proper state authorities, while the authorities wouldn't have to go in to much troubles doing this themselves.
Microsoft Windows, Google and Facebook are in reality eavesdropping tools disguised as operating systems, search engines and social network tools. Their CEOS might even be patsies for all we know.

The internet eventually broke out of every set boundary, it created its own economy and re invented the way the world communicates. Now it is too damn big to unplug. Even in the event of a great war, the internet will slowly find its way again to our homes and neighborhoods. It will re appear with home networks from salvaged electronic equipment communicating with other home and neighborhood networks from long distances.

You have to understand the philosophy of those "organizing" this datamining and surveillance...it is a global village...everyone knows what everyone else does...there are no secrets...is this repressive...equalizing...liberating...probably all of the above. the private and personal is the political...inseparable...old school thinkers would have called it totalitarian per se....distilled to an essence...it is a village square where anonymous hecklers can call for justice and mob action at any time...this is the soros philosophy. can it be sustainable, for a nation or for a one world ? perhaps.
