I do agree with you though. I am in my final year at college and from what I have seen, my generation seems completely screwed.

Partly because of the circumstances and things going on in this world...

But mainly because my generation is too apathetic, ignorant, and selfish to do anything about it. They have been socially engineered to their current attitude/ idea of "progress" and they just want to keep grazing like sheep, letting their minds rot while watching MTV.


Very sad that there are so few that care about what is going on, young or old....

I am fond of repeating my view on politicians vs Statesmen, and if it werent so long I would make it my sig line. In light of this story, it is appropriate.

The Statesman is what we used to have. This was a guy who left his farm/shop/business/job behind for a couple of years, put on his best (maybe only) suit, packed some shit in a wagon and headed out to DC to represent his constituents, his neighbors who elected him.
For the first 100 years his average term was 3 years, less than 10% ran for re-election, and less than 10% of those were actually elected again. They performed their civic duty and then returned to their farm/shop/job, they returned to their real life.

Now we have Politicians. This is a person who often has very little connection to their constituents, perhaps a 3rd vacation home in the district they are supposed to represent. They will even seek out a district where there is an open chance at getting elected and buy another vacation home there.
In the past 50 years their average term has exploded to over 27 years, over 90% of them run for re-election, and over 90% of them are re-elected. They are members of the 1%, the 0.1%, and the 0.01% economic group, they dont have farms/shops/jobs to return to, rather a towmhome in Georgetown, an apartment in Manhattan, and a spread in the Hamptons. Ohh, and a vacation home in their "district".


The MAIN concern of the Statesman was the welfare of his constituents. To represent those who elected him to speak for them in Washington.

The O N L Y concern of the Politician is the next election. This is a means of self enrichment via the Goldman Sachs, GE, Pfizer, Exxon, Monsanto, etc. and the millions or even billions in campaign contributions and graft.

And its not just the elected officials, its the appointed ones as well. For SCOTUS to recently rule unconstitutional to limit campaign contributions from corporations... Those very same corporations who have ensured that only the extremely wealthy and those willing to do their bidding will ever have enough $$$ to fund a campaign.

What does all this mean for the rest of us? It means that the remaining 99% effectively have 0.00% representation in government. This is so wrong on so many levels.

Time to remove every single elected and appointed Politician, put them on trial and start booking long prison terms. Its time to establish TERM LIMITS for ALL offices, elected and appointed. Its time to remove the graft from our government, those positions will always carry an enormous amount of power and prestige, they should not also be a means for becoming extremely rich. There has to be accountability, and along with the weight of power needs to come a healty dose of fear of the people. After all, there are 330 million of us and less than 1,000 of them.
