HELL'S ARRIVED, NEPHILIM ARE HERE! Ancient Sculpture Depicts an (alleged) Laptop and Cave Churches Built by Giants
Interesting video. Is there anyone that can tell if it truly is a Laptop in the Sculpture?

Look up the meaning of the word renown, the meaning might give you another thought.

The sculpture might not be a woman and servant it could be mother and child. The child showing something to mother. The clothes and the necklace on what looks like a child. It is probably a type of box.

I keep remembering coral castle which was made by a man who was not tall about 3' 4" or lest, big stone he made a big splash, and no one knows how. He did not tell anyone.

So, it is passed down and known by people from an area over there pretty close I think. Same with Tesla, big brain over there.

it does look more like a child, it could all be symbolism obviously which i would be more inclined to believe. But the laptop fits in the sense that, the child represents knowledge through youth and she is opening her mothers eyes to technology.

Perhaps it is two pieces of polished brass or silver to be used as two mirrors.

With the child (her young self) holding the mirror to the lady, as she grasps the corner, the sun will reflect on the bottom mirror and her reflection would be in the mirror which faces her.

It would bring her forward and up…from child to woman…to woman who has reflected under her reflection the sun.

She rises above the sun upon reflection.

The entity in the chair would be looking into the box if you were correct, however her gaze is clearly directed at the backside of the box's cover, which is where a laptop screen is normally located. Also, there are two jacks on the left side of the box, which is where earphone and microphone jacks are often located on modern laptops. Further, a jewelry or chocolate box would ordinarily be thicker at the box, and thinner at the flip-top lid, but both components in the sculpture are of equal/comparable thickness as in the case of a MAcBook Air or many other modern laptops.

See a higher resolution picture of the sculpture for better examination of those details [link to www.getty.edu]

could be a mirror, however, in Ancient Greece mirrors were apparently usually comprised of a piece of metal held at a thin handle, and which abruptly widens into a circular or oval-shaped component, on one side of which the mirror glass would be set:

The box looks like a jewelry box used for holding necklace and earring sets. Usually covered in leather and lined in velvet to better display the jewels within.

While it may look like a laptop of today - chances are it is something much less technologically sophisticated and far more useful to a Grecian woman who was important enough in her time to be immortalized in a sculpture of any kind.

Moreover, known containers from Ancient Greece for jewelry and foodstuffs were usually circular rather than square box shaped: [link to www.ancient.eu.com]
In specific, an item called a "Pyxis (pl. pyxides) - a small circular box with a lid, often used for the storage of jewellery and toileteries" would be a typical Ancient Grecian jewelry container. [link to www.ancient.eu.com]

In any case, the "Ancient Sculpture" referred to by OP is part of the J. Paul Getty Museum collection in Los Angeles. The museum is presently split into two campuses: (1) the huge Getty Center located in Brentwood; and (2) the much smaller Getty Villa located in Pacific Palisades. The "Ancient Sculpture" has been reported as being in "Malibu" which is next to Pacific Palisades, so apparently it is housed in the Getty Villa campus.

The Getty's blog describes the "Ancient sculpture" as:
"Gravestone with a Woman and Her Attendant, Greek, about 100 B.C. Marble. The J. Paul Getty Museum, 72.AA.159" [link to blogs.getty.edu]

Elsewhere, the Getty Museum's website identifies the piece as currently on display at the Getty Villa and describes it as:

"Lounging in a cushioned armchair, a woman reaches out to touch the lid of a shallow chest held by a servant girl on this funerary relief. The depiction of the deceased reaching out for an item held by a servant has a long history in Greek funerary art and probably alludes to the hope of continuing earthly pleasures in the afterlife. The dead woman must have come from a prominent and wealthy family. Numerous elements on the relief signal her high status, as do the scale and overall quality of the work. She wears snake-bracelets, presumably gold, on her upper and lower arms. Her elaborate chair has a turned leg decorated with lions' paws and an eagle arm-support. Also the clothes and hairstyle of the attendant characterize the young girl as a slave."

"This relief has been substantially altered over the years. Originally, it took the form of a shallow naiskos, or three-sided grave monument, but three elements have been cut away: an architectural top portion, probably in the form of a pediment; the left side wall; and a lower portion that probably had an inscription. These alterations may have occurred in 1770 when the relief became part of the collection of Lord Lansdowne and was hung over a door in his London house."

Re: HELL'S ARRIVED, NEPHILIM ARE HERE! Ancient Sculpture Depicts an (alleged) Laptop and Cave Churches Built by Giants
The Getty describes it as a "shallow chest". Shallow indeed, the lid is as thick as the base of the "chest" and the item is too small to be useful for most storage needs. Plus, if it were a chest or case, the seated woman would be looking downward into the base to view the contents stored in it, but instead she is looking at the backside of the lid or cover. [link to www.getty.edu]

Another Ancient Grecian piece depicts a seated woman who also has a case her chest in front of her. As expected, she looks downward into the base to view the contents: [link to www.mlahanas.de]
There is also a typical Ancient Grecian hand held mirror sitting on her table, behind the case or chest. Their mirrors were rarely/never constructed inside cases or chests.
This actual depiction of an Ancient Grecian chest or case is said to have been useful for storing clothes possibly:
"A relief from a Greek colony in Calabria, a woman opens a case probably with clothes, National Museum of Reggio Calabria, 490-450 BC (Image from a Greek school Project) . So called "Pinax of Persephone" opening the "Likon Mystikon". Found in the holy shrine of Persephone at Locri in the district Mannella."
[link to www.mlahanas.de]

Here the two images are juxtaposed, to illustrate the unlikely theories that the Getty piece depicts a container or mirror:

Wow! Very interesting! Thanks OP! :smyay:

Sure does look like a laptop. LOL But yes, I can see it was probably a 'shallow chest' of some sorts, like they say.

My question would be then... hehe... if it simply is a shallow chest, what the heck are those two holes in the side??

Re: HELL'S ARRIVED, NEPHILIM ARE HERE! Ancient Sculpture Depicts an (alleged) Laptop and Cave Churches Built by Giants
Could be a tablet?
[link to en.wikipedia.org]

IF so, why no stylus to write with? I would say because the woman is dead, but other funeral covers display tablets with styluses, as in this Roman piece:
[link to en.wikipedia.org]

An Ancient Greek depiction of a tablet can be viewed here: [link to www.mlahanas.de] This is whats known as a "horizontally hinged" tablet.

Consider this discussion of Ancient Grecian tablet writing:
An ancient Greek with a tablet to write, a old version of the LAPTOP :-). Boy stands before a writing teacher who holds the stylus poised to write in his tablet (or to check the student's exercise). Other inscriptions on the vase are in the Attic alphabet: HIPODAMAS KALOS. (From Immerwahr, [1964], 18-19)] " David N. Carvalho: "Tablets of ivory or metal were in common use among the Greeks and Romans. When made of wood--sometimes of citron, but usually of beech or fir--their inner sides were coated with wax, on which the letters were traced with a pointed pen or stiletto (stylus), one end of which was used for erasure. It was with his stylus that Caesar stabbed Casca in the arm when attacked by his murderers. Wax tablets of this kind continued in partial use in Europe during the middle ages; the oldest extant specimen, now in the museum at Florence, belongs to the year 1301." [link to www.mlahanas.de]

Assuming the "Ancient Sculpture" is attempting to depict a tablet, which the Getty mislabeled/incorrectly identified as a "shallow chest", then the deceased wealthy woman would seem to be being presented with a wood tablet (rather than ivory or metal tablet). IT is not clear whether she would be presented with a wood tablet given her wealth?

Further, there is no stylus to be seen, whereas Greek tablets are usually depicted with a stylus (writing instrument):
- [link to media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com]
- [link to www.bookdrum.com]
- [link to americanreadingforum.org]
- [link to www.cornellcollege.edu]
- [link to s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com]

There does appear to be a small marking on the top left corner of the "screen of the laptop" that the woman may be looking at:
[link to imgur.com]

Here is a replica of an Ancient Roman 2-sided wax tablet:
[link to cs.brynmawr.edu]

Consider an Ancient Greek depiction of a papyrus scroll,
[link to www.bible-history.com] , which has been described as "The earliest Greek representation of someone reading (c.440BC). It shows the musician Linos reading from a papyrus roll, with the poet Mousaios reading from wooden tablets."

A lengthy scholarly article describes the evolution of writing, from scrolls and tablets to codices: [link to ccat.sas.upenn.edu]

Apparently Ancient Greece was known to use tablets for writing at least since the time of Homer, who has been said to have lived sometime between 600BC and 1200BC. Greeks got the idea for tablets from their neighbors to the East, it is believed. These early Greek tablets are known only from their descriptions in writings, e.g. the writings of Homer. The earliest surviving Ancient Grecian tablets are dated to the mid Third Century BC:
[link to ccat.sas.upenn.edu]
They are already Codex style at that time.

Tablets evolved to be multi-leaved (i.e. have multiple "pages" for writing on). As they replaced scrolls, they were sometimes folded "Accordion style" so as to emulate the continuous page style of a scroll: [link to vindolanda.csad.ox.ac.uk]
This is one form of "vertically hinged" multi-leafed tablet. The other form of vertical hinged table would be akin to a calendar that you hang on your wall: [link to 1.bp.spam]

Later multi-leaved tablets were "horizontally hinged". This means they appear similar to a codex (i.e., a normal modern book, where you read left to write from top to bottom of the page, then jump to top of the next page and repeat). These are held like a book:
[link to ccat.sas.upenn.edu]

Multi-leaved tablets in the Greco-Roman world were known by 400BC, according to the scholarly article, which says "but the thickness and rigidity of the material limited the number of leaves that could be included, and in fact no specimen surviving from Greco-Roman antiquity has more than ten. [[add rabbinic reference to 12?]] The earliest surviving Greek tablets, seven in number, date from the middle of the third century bce. Both sides of each leaf were covered with wax, sometimes black, sometimes red; they are hinged horizontally and contain rough accounts of expenses during a journey on the Nile.\3/ In Rome tablet codices were equally familiar from an early date and were employed not only for the casual purposes of everyday life but for legal documents and official certificates [[e.g. debts and birth records]]"

The "Ancient Sculpture" is dated by Getty to around 100BC, so it should be multi-leaved if it is supposed to be a tablet, as nobody in Greece was still using individual tablets in 100BC. But it does not appear to be multi-leaved. Assuming it is multi-leaved, and assuming that the marking at the "top left corner of the screen of the laptop" is writing, then it is obvious that it is a vertically hinged multi-leaved tablet, based on the orientation that the woman's attendant is presenting it to her, however as discussed, by 100BC horizontally hinged multi-leaved tablets would be expected.

There are clearly many problems with the theory that the woman is being presented with a tablet.

The "Ancient Sculpture" from other angles

[N.B. "angels" are religious things but "angles" are those boring things from math class -- people spell these wrong a lot -- maybe remember Angel ends with EL which is a reference to G-d in Ancient Hebrew (see, e.g., daniEL, nathaniEL, michaEL, israEL) or, some believe, is a reference to any god(see [link to en.wikipedia.org]

Very informative!! Thank you!

I was reading in one of those links given further upthread, that the sculpture of the woman had originally been 'three-sided'. A man had bought this, and took the other sides off, placing this part above his door. Part of what was taken off, supposedly was the inscription.

Am thinking that in the process of taking this sculpture apart, possibly much more identifying info was lost. Sad, if that's the case.
