That will kill you over time. oh and dont, sleep on your back, and make sure to use a pillow, to help prevent the apnea. Life is a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 44745376 United Kingdom 06/10/2014 06:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is a serious thread. Every night I get sleep paralysis, or maybe more accurately 4-5 days a week minimum, but I am also prone to getting 3-4 times in the same night. It ALWAYS happens when I am falling asleep, not waking up. I have also noticed certain spots in my house when I sleep or nap are more susceptible to triggering an episode. It comes on suddenly, often a full blown attack within 5-15 seconds. A huge wave of pressure and vibrations sweep over my body. Like a heavy invisible cloak is weighing me down. Within 3 seconds of feeling the pressure I try to move and even by then it's sometimes too late. I try wiggling my toes, fingers, arms, jerking out suddenly, etc. anything that works. Many times I feel close to breaking the bond but then get sucked deeper into the void. The farther I go, the worse and more horrifying it is. The episodes usually only last 1-2 minutes before I muster the strength to 'snap out of it', but if I try to go back to sleep shortly after an attack, I am prone to another one within literally seconds of letting my guard down again. Quoting: ILoveyouJoy It's a really bad feeling. Not sure how to stop this. Have tried praying, different sleeping locations, sleeping on my back, side, etc. I often have pretty frightening dreams too but that's not nearly as bad as the paralysis. I can cope with nightmares, but being paralyzed and feeling like I am sucked into a deep dark void is a whole different ball game.I know all about the supposedly negative energies/demons causing sleep paralysis, and have all the symptoms of this, and have had them for several months now. Before I never had sleep paralysis ever and now it's a nightly occurrence. Please offer suggestions on what I can do to stop this. As I said I've tried prayer, as well as sleeping locations and postures while sleeping. I don't know what else. And if you have any questions about my experience just ask. In fact I was woken up by one tonight which is what triggered me to write this. Thanks in advance. I think the key lies in breaking that fear, you have learned to fear the void for some deep seated reason, and therefore have developed a psychosis, a self feeding spiral of fear and reaction. It's not an easy answer, but if you could learn to let go of the fear and trust the grand architect that this is perfectly normal and nothing to be afraid of....quite literally.......nothing, whatever may come |

The house could use a good sage cleansing. My son went through this for a bit. Prayer of protection before sleep may also help. I know this sucks, I hope you find your sleep peaceful soon. |

ILoveyouJoy (OP) User ID: 40061598 United States 06/10/2014 06:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Its not a void, you're astral body just floats out of the physical one before entering the Astral dream world. Usually we don't feel it. I have experienced this before. I felt the vibrations, pressure, lightness. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 51871054 So have I but this is different. I used to practice lucid dreaming consciously to achieve this transition. But This isn't a light transition from wake to sleep. This is me laying down being fully conscious in bed, and all of a sudden get a huge wave of pressure combined with feelings of fear and terror, while not being able move at all within seconds. If I let go and let it be, it just gets worse and I stay fully conscious while being entirely paralyzed, usually with my eyes still open. There's no dreaming involved other than the acute feelings of fear which aren't a dream at all. Then I can wake up, lay back down and feel it immediately, when my mind is fully awake. |

Its not just a prayer, its a command using the power of Christ. This will also work against abductions. Become born again through Christ and never have this attacks again, he gives us the power to tread on serpents. Also stop using drugs if you are. Good luck to you, may the peace of Christ come upon you. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 58962632 United Kingdom 06/10/2014 06:45 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hey OP. I used to get it often when I worked shifts. I napped after finishing on Sunday in the afternoon. Almost every Sunday for a couple of months, when I napped I got this. A bit of reading around and I found that an irregular sleep pattern could trigger it. If possible, try to regularize your sleeping. Also, I'd read about sleep paralysis before ever getting it, as a result I didn't find it TOO bad. I found the easiest way to break it was to concentrate on moving my toes. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 59077336 United States 06/10/2014 06:57 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | first of all, don't get caught in the belief that these experiences have anything to do with a demonic attack. you know about lucid dreaming already, so understand that this is your consciousness being too... conscious while transitioning to a dream state. i've experienced this for years. i remember it would happen to me every single time my girlfriend woke up early and left for work. i would wake up with her and after she'd leave, i'd go back to sleep ...and within seconds of my head hitting the pillow i was being squished. i applied meditation to the problem and learned to block it out of my mind as it was happening and it would stop... almost like since i forgot it was even taking place it no longer could exist... if that makes sense. what's funny to me is that i lay my physical body down in my bed ...sleep paralysis kicks in ...i meditate my way out and immediately notice that i'm dreaming lucidly. i'm still in my room exactly where i laid my physical body down... but i get up in a lucid dream state as if my soul stood up out of my body. then i walk around my apartment and everything is almost as it is when i'm awake, but its a lucid dream and weird things start happening... i dunno ...it feels like an ongoing quest i'm in to figure out what's actually happening when i'm dreaming lucidly. anyway, if it helps at all... i noticed two things that triggered the paralysis and lucid dreaming for me. one, if i already got a full night of sleep, wake up and then doze off again and two, and this might help you, light. i noticed if the sun was coming up and my bedroom was slightly illuminated it would happen... very rarely have i gotten sleep paralysis in a pitch black room. |

Sleeping in bed dreaming that I was awake, paralyzed and could not move. Quite terrifying! I eventually trained myself to realize I was dreaming and to snap out of it. Haven't had another episode in years. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 58255927 United States 06/10/2014 09:00 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've had this happen to me throughout my life, also been able to have very lucid dreams so I think there is a connection. It happens more in my bed than the couch so It could have to do with the position I'm sleeping in. I've never felt like there was a demon involved and don't feel extreme terror as some do. I was sure one time that there was a being doing something to my feet and then he made me get up and open my door, when I woke up the door was in fact open. It seems since then to be the trend that I will now be prompted to get up and walk around during these episodes and then be directed back to my bed and paralyzed again. I've never had a problem with sleepwalking but perhaps this is just starting to develop. My advice to you would be to look for any possible reasonable explanation but also keep in mind that it could be something we don't even know about yet, something unexplainable. Also when you are able to wake yourself up, as hard as it is, GET UP, turn lights on and walk around for a minute. If you don't fully wake yourself up, you will continue to go in and out for the rest of the night. |
