I have heard somewhere that volcanic ash has an effect on radioactive particles. something about encasing it in volcanic ash that neutralizes it.

For everything they have Manuals which they need to follow,
when the Manuals say "it is Okay to do so" than it is a good temporary Solution, when you are unhappy about it provide better Solutions!

Yea I guess it's common practice to fix a melted down reactor, wait, #5 is not melted down (PHEW).
If it is not needed, why did they say they had 9 days to fix it, or the temperature would start rising.

Does their manual say, when there are 3 melt down's, its ok to pump, dump, allow contaminated waste water to flow into the Pacific Ocean?

Does their manual say what to do with the bags and bags of contaminated soil from miles around?

Does their manual say what to do with the radioactive water in storage containers (which were riveted, instead of welded)?

Does their manual say what to do with the cores, they cannot even find, and how to clean them up?

it was right what Tepco had done, it was logical to exchange low contaminated Water for heavier contaminated Water
d.) "The Manuals" say what you have to do with contaminated Soil and Water, Japan is not Soviet Russia where they keep it still in the open
e.) the Regulations also say what they need to do with contaminated Water,
you may underestimate Guidelines because you don't know
f.) we know that the molten Cores are not above, left or right of the Reactor
g.) Yes, Dismatle the whole NPS

Don't have a clue, but their riveted tanks will not hold. If they were welded tanks, they would theoretically last longer.

If AC was in reference to this pipe/pump fix, that I am not sure of. - you might ask him. He is currently on the Tuna thread saying tuna is safe and ok to eat, because it is below the acceptable limits of radiation.
