What kind of explosion would happen if this was all in a pool of liquid nitrogen?
Enough to create a strong enough vacuum for a venturi vent to suck the radiation into space while simultaneously cooling the rods enough to be encapsulated and shot into space

Nice idea, if only it would work...
I have heard somewhere that volcanic ash has an effect on radioactive particles. something about encasing it in volcanic ash that neutralizes it.
I will have to go look again.

Here is some of it...
RADIATION PROTECTION: Both Zeolite AND Fulvic Acid are both derived from Black Mica. Since the nuclear age begin, radiation has been contained in the ground with zeolites, and Black Mica has been used to clean up radiation. Black Mica were and are used in Russia to clean out radiation from Chernobyl victims. Black Mica neutralizes radiation.

Interview with the inventor of Adya Clarity (super mineral extract from Black Mica)

Excerpt:"HOW DID YOU COME TO THINK OF EXTRACTING MINERALS FROM BLACK MICA?

Once upon a time, I was involved in the study of discharging radioactive water from nuclear reactors. There was a material that absorbed radioactivity called an ion exchanging body; this material was made from vermiculites, which are a natural ion exchanging body. When this material came to my possession, and I had a chance to study it, I came to realize that vermiculites were actually stones called effervescent mica. Mica found abroad was almost all white mica type, but black mica had more abundant minerals. So I began a search to see where I could find black mica in Japan. I found them in granites. The liquid form of these minerals is the extracted Super Minerals. They were not chemically synthesized. They were just extracted out from Nature as they existed. "

his special mineral formula is called Adya Clarity. CLARITY is a magnetic sulfate mineral solution that is extracted from the rarest , most mineral rick Biotite/Black Mica volcanic deposit in Mt Fuji, Japan using a proprietary acid sulfate process. This is the only known "PURE" resource of Black Mica in the world.

What is your Problem?

This Pump will be exchanged as soon as possible (Now!)
until later we see a temporary Fix!

This is a common practice everywhere, not only in nuclear Power Stations!

Also this Pump is not even needed but they fix it because to avoid Trouble
with the NRC and IAEA.

@ M.W.

you can go there and provide a better Job,
when your CV is good enough which i doubt!

I think you try to talk about something without even knowing the basics
which is very common of the Glp.

For everything they have Manuals which they need to follow,
when the Manuals say "it is Okay to do so" than it is a good temporary Solution, when you are unhappy about it provide better Solutions!

Common practice,
Yea I guess it's common practice to fix a melted down reactor, wait, #5 is not melted down (PHEW).
If it is not needed, why did they say they had 9 days to fix it, or the temperature would start rising.

Does their manual say, when there are 3 melt down's, its ok to pump, dump, allow contaminated waste water to flow into the Pacific Ocean?

Does their manual say what to do with the bags and bags of contaminated soil from miles around?

Does their manual say what to do with the radioactive water in storage containers (which were riveted, instead of welded)?

Does their manual say what to do with the cores, they cannot even find, and how to clean them up?

Just saying.

TEPCO Restarts Fukushima Unit 5 Pool Cooling Without Permanent Fix

140707_04TEPCO has announced they have restarted the cooling system for unit 5 just days after stopping it due to a valve body leak. TEPCO mentions in this handout of the restart but there is no permanent fix mentioned as being completed or proposed.

But not inside of a Nuclear Powerstation!,
you are not allowed to do what you normally do,
i even doubt that you are allowed to use Fire under normal Circumstances

I KNOW! RIGHT?

I was laughing and sick to my stomach at the same time.

UNBELIEVEABLE,

IT is truly the tyranny of the urgent there. run around and fix one issue, but only a temporary fix, then another issue pops up, so they fix it temporarily, while trying to do something that will ultimately fail, like build an ice wall - even if this DID work, How long will it last?

Certainly I give them credit for trying, and solving an issue, even though it is a temporary fix.

Don't have a clue, but their riveted tanks will not hold. If they were welded tanks, they would theoretically last longer.

If AC was in reference to this pipe/pump fix, that I am not sure of. - you might ask him. He is currently on the Tuna thread saying tuna is safe and ok to eat, because it is below the acceptable limits of radiation.
