it's occult knowledge, but I'm gonna let you in. The aging process is actually caused by loss of sexual energy (ejaculation of semen in men). if you conserve and cultivate the energy, you can stop or reverse the aging process. Physical exercise is not harmful to the body, unless your health is already compromised prior to the work and you don't know it.

Life is balance...

I shouldn't need to say any more than that, however, working hard without proper hydration and nutrition will lead to kidney failure...and premature death.

Sitting on your ass all the time will lead to your demise as well...

The happy medium is proper nutrition and hydration, along with a reasonable amount of physical activity.

How could it not have counted as a job for disability? Were you working for under the table pay? Or not paying your social security taxes?

I was a landscaper. I mowed lawns. I did it for cash. There are no records. I paid the government nothing. Now I wish I had. I mowed about 13 lawns a day. 3 days a week. 5 hours a day. For 16 years. Until I got sick. Then it was 10 a day, then 8, then 5. Then I was too sick to keep doing it. Now it takes me 3 hours to do my own lawn and soon I may have to pay someone else to do it.

Hard physical labor in the 90+ degree heat. For years on end. Too hot or too cold never figured in to it. Didn't matter, did it anyway. Sick? Too bad. Work anyway. No days off unless it rained.

I never hired anyone to help me. When my kids were young I forced them to help so they could understand what hard work was. It worked. They make far more than I ever did and they do not get dirty or tired working.

No, I did not participate in the tax thing. I paid enough sales taxes. I never took food stamps or other help. I paid my own way and was proud of it. Now I need help. Not because I was lazy. But because I did the hot work in the sun that the rich lazy folks did not want to do.

Now I am worn out. I can't even flip burgers. I really wish I had stayed a file clerk. I was good at it. And it never got me tired.

I think the idea is that in order to succeed you need to try hard and often to work hard rather than sitting around being lazy. It is not to work so hard you turn old before your time. There is a difference between working smart and working hard.

I'm a carpenter and I also have a degree - no "office job" for me.

The office jobs only exist if you have a professional designation like Accounting or Law and either you can't get in because they want a 3.5/4.0 GPA or the material is so hard that 50-80% of people get weeded out. I was never a straight A student so I would flunk one of those programs.

What's left out there? Construction and various blue collar work. Even the blue collar stuff is hard, I managed to flunk several carpentry quizzes and tests myself.

It's a broken society. People are born into money. Women can engage in hypergamy and be a stay at home to some rich or smart men.

The rest of us men get phuck all, we are the slaves that make this civilization possible.

It's either this crummy 40 hour a work construction or 30 hour a week part time serving french fries. Phuck this life.

Honestly, it took me awhile to figure out that it's not what you know but who you know. You have to acquire the right acquaintances in order to get ahead in anything these days or else you will be looked on as one of the throw-away people who get relegated to the low-end of the job market. If you are smart enough and get sent there, you can work your way up a bit but it's always easier to know somebody who can help you get what you want without all that effort. I've done both and the latter is more productive.

Re: "Hard work never hurt anyone"
i knew a woman. wonderful, strong, talented woman.

she was a black belt in karate.

she worked out everyday, HARD. longer than full time hours, teaching people karate.

she was a vegetarian.

she got cancer.

she died pretty quickly and young.

in fact, she is the second vegetarian woman i've known to die of cancer.

i truly believe in this nutrition info here:

www.westonaprice.org.

weston price, in his travels of the world, answered the question: what is good nutrition.

i personally work very hard all summer, and i rest a lot in the winter.

it is also very important to BE HAPPY.

Did it ever cross your mind that maybe the expression "Hard work never hurt anyone", didn't necessarily refer to physical labour as hard work? You can be putting hard work in reading and studying, doesn't have to mean lifting heavy shit for 8 hours a day in the sun.

Re: "Hard work never hurt anyone"
I believe there is one creator, who gave us the possibility to be a part of his family (yes, that close!) and there is no part of that, that could ever be slavery.
 Quoting: #KK#

if that was the case
and his intentions were true,
then why was our DNA altered/limited
to only allow 10% brain function ??

nobody intentionally desires or creates
an imbecile child unless it is for specific
reason

that reason being slavery

to perform the functions that
he did not want to do or too lazy to do

if god wanted a huge intelligent family
of his own, then we would have had
100% brain functionality and all the secrets
of the cosmos would be known to us

we have been here for millions of yrs and we
can't even travel to the next planet over
from us

why is this ???

slaves are not supposed to travel among
the stars, it surpasses our mission
task here on earth

for if we did these things
we would be godlike
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 60827886

Now you're reminding me of that little kid who wants it all, and NOW!
The creator would not have given us our brains for no reason, that much is sure, so if at present they don't function to full capacity, they probably will one day, when the time is right.
We already are godlike, but can never be God, or even little gods, we will always be the created, even though it is to the likeness to God.
I guess it is your choice, ultimately, your free-will, whether you believe God is an alien slave-master or a loving father, choose well, because it will effect your reality.

Which is fine if you have people skills. I have none. Don't know anyone, never had any friends. Don't like people.

Well, that's never going to happen, unfortunately. Still, I don't agree with the hard work is bad theme. I consider hard work to be more of a generalized type of thing. You make a long-term plan A and have a back-up plan B. You work at achieving that plan by working smart and hard (not necessarily physical work) - studying, getting your credentials and experience, etc. Nobody doing extreme physical labor repetitively over the course of years is going to come out ahead in that game. But then again, the lazy-axx sitting on the couch eating bonbons and drinking beer collecting welfare isn't going to come out ahead either. You have to have a balance. Take care of your physical and mental health along the way.
