They do not worship saints or Mary. 'Praying' to saints or Mary is asking for help with being a better person, a stronger Christian, assistance with some problem. They do not believe the saints ir Mary are God. There is only one, true God. |

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 60810832 KJV Fundie, actually read your bible! As for Mary and the Saints, we don't pray to them, but we do ask them to pray for us. We don't worship them either. Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible Confess your faults one to another,.... Which must be understood of sins committed against one another; which should be acknowledged, and repentance for them declared, in order to mutual forgiveness and reconciliation; and this is necessary at all times, and especially on beds of affliction, and when death and eternity seem near approaching: wherefore this makes nothing for auricular confession, used by the Papists; which is of all sins, whereas this is only of such by which men offend one another; that is made to priests, but this is made by the saints to one another, by the offending party to him that is offended, for reconciliation, whereby a good end is answered; whereas there is none by the other, and very often bad consequences follow. I am not sure that all Catholics pray to Saints . I think that Irish Catholics do. This is different from confession. It could be bad with an unscrupulous priest but it was started perhaps to encourage people to examine their lives and to become better. It is so much easier to notice other peoples faults than one's own. The plank in ones own... It is good to examine one's conscience at the end of the day .It is a good habit to get into. By the time the Protestants broke away the Church had fallen for many sins and vices....and was corrupted. Your question is like me asking can you defend all the different versions of the bible that have been created with their different emphases? When the Protestant were in power here they destroyed the statues and stained glass and made the churches plain and no Christmas or dancing and singing. Ordinary people had no choice. A bit like the ISIS now. It is for God to judge these things . We just have to do the best we can where and when we are born. If it gives someone comfort to pray for help from someone they perceive to be good .Who are we to say they shouldn't? |

I don't need a priest as my middle man. Jesus is my middle man. The catholic church is trying to step in place of Jesus. Mary worship is unbiblical, Papal infallibility is unbiblical, Priests being able to forgive sins is unbiblical, Repetitious rosary praying is unbiblical, infant baptism is unbiblical, celibacy of priests is unbiblical, indulgences are unbiblical, pergutory is most definitely unbiblical. The list goes on and on and on. Anyone remaining in the catholic church must not be reading their bibles. |

The Catholic Church sees all who have ever lived in Christ as" one body, one spirit in Christ". So they view people who have been acknowledged as having led Christ-like lives as capable of intercessory prayer on your behalf, just like a Protestant, Bible believing Christian would ask a fellow "Saint" to pray for them. |

Why do Protestants ask their pastors to pray for them and with them? Are saints "dead"? If they are does that mean there is no eternal life? To ask a saint to pray for you, like you would ask your Protestant Minister, would the saint have to be alive? Before I sin, do I ask God for permission? Then after I sin, why should I confess it to God? If I sin against someone, should I confess and apologize to them? How do I apologize if I can't find them? How do I apologize to mankind? |

But if you insist on having a central object while praying then it can be a candle, a rock, a flower and it will still count as God. A central object is often needed while praying or meditating in order to help you clear your mind and focus, so you can really use anything that makes you comfortable. |

But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. |
