Local business down's like to hire unless you've been local for at least a year because it's so expensive people leave pretty quick, (no income). Besides, the job market is very, very bad...ever since the housing collapse. No one will hire you if you are staying in a motel. You will need at least 3 months rent up front, and even then you may have a hard time finding someone to rent to you, again, the local thing. Figure at least around a thousand a month for a crap rental, plus utilities. Deposits run about 150 each for electric, water, etc. Not many sandy beaches since the Keys are all coral rock. The second year you can develop an allergy to the coral dust, so prepare for that. It's hot as hell, and you get used to the bugs. Good Luck!! |

I made serious money at a local night club- but paid 1100 per month for a dumpy 3 bedroom 1 bath home. We had to grocery shop in Homestead because the food prices were insane! I loved the keys though. I miss the fishing! |
