What to Expect when Ebola or Other Contagion Hits the US Mainland in Large Numbers by John Galt

The current Ebola scare in New York City may well turn out to be another false negative or buried report with those “possibly” infected suddenly vanishing into isolation wards on military bases around the region but the question has been raised all over the internet earlier this afternoon:

What IF this is the big one?

By the big one I interpret that to be a contagious, highly lethal disease with a 60%+ mortality rate escaping the control of the government and spreading across the nation creating massive panic such as was slightly displayed in the Hollywood movie “Contagion” however not reflecting the immediate reality with clues for the average citizen to look for should such an event occur.

First and foremost, the mainstream media and government will continually deny with great fervency that an outbreak has occurred and that there is any risk to the general public. If a Patient X such as the one being discussed in New York City is discovered to be positively infected, the story will die there along with the patient if need be. The United States government and Center for Disease Control (CDC) completely understand the risks should such an outbreak be confirmed and that said individual(s) may have been in contact with hundreds of citizens in the general public. The first step will be for DHS to gather all security footage from airports, subways, or other public venues this individual(s) has been through within the prior 48-72 hours.

Individuals who are identified on airplanes, subways, or near this individual(s) will be forcibly picked up by the authorities, placed in special military isolation units and given thorough exams and blood testing regimens until all tests reflect a full negative or clear profile preventing further spread of the disease in question. If there is any doubt, the individual(s) will be placed into one of the secret isolation wards set up on US military bases for such an emergency and the DHS will raise the security alert to maximum levels thus to request broader authority from the White House and Congress to take what actions the CDC and military medical community deem necessary.
