Patriotism is natural in a homogeneous national country, but it's an artificial concept in multiethnic, multiconfessional countries, like Russia for instance. That's why Russians were always looking for dictators, and that's why even the communist dictators, like Stalin, used the Church as an ally to promote the unity of the population. |
