Quoting: ottumwacourier"No, nothing like that. They have the right to say 'no,'" said Parker. "What happens then is the assessor decides on a valuation." [link to www.ottumwacourier.com] |

Or install a screen door. As soon as they open the gate or door to ring the doorbell, call the cops! The mere act of opening the gate or screen IS BREAKING AND ENTERING aka BURGLARY. Have them arrested. Works great for solicitors and bill collectors too. HOA officers also. If your door is slightly open and a person pushes it open to enter constitutes burglary. I'm sure you're saying this is ridiculous, but it'll hold up in ANY court. And has personally worked for me on several occasions as well as several friends. Check it out there's hundreds if not thousands of rulings on this trick. |

They are starting reassessments. They used to do them every 10 years, and now will be doing them every 4 years. They will come by and inspect the outside of your house, and ask you questions about the interior. They will also request access to the inside. They can KMA. They will NOT be allowed inside my home. Praise God from Whom all Blessings flow !!! |

AND no one is allowed inside, period. |

I imagine we're only a few years away from them coming right out and saying "County snoops will be coming into your home to see what kind of shit you've been up to. They are authorized to access any/all electronic devices, open any/all containers, and have unrestricted access to any location in or outside your property" "Brawndo! It's got electrolytes!" |

They'll jack them regardless Over here, they are inaccurate as can be with their reassessments. The last time they reassessed, they had my mothers house listed as a brick house with a fireplace and a family room. Her house is a frame ranch with no fireplace or family room. They had my house listed as 2 full baths (I have 1 1/2), carpeted throughout(taxed higher), forced air heat(taxed higher), and an addition. My house is all original as when it was built 94 years ago. They listed my original bay window in my dining room as an addition, I have radiator heat, not forced air, and I only have some of my rooms carpeted.I even answered all questions when the assessors came here the last time, and they still wrote down what they wanted to. It is all about the revenue, people. they are trying to squeeze that last drop of blood out of you. Praise God from Whom all Blessings flow !!! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1453297 AND no one is allowed inside, period. Nothing good ever comes from a person who knocked on your door. Agree. Across the street, a vacant house was being roofed. The owner put his tools inside the house... That night it stormed, and the next morning I looked out to check the trees, and his front door was wide open. My first thought was the storm had blown the vacant house door open. Later that day, three cop cars were at the house, and I then knew what had happened to the door. It's my opinion the men who worked on the roof, came back during the night and stole the tools. Point is...cops were knocking on everyone's doors looking for eye witnesses. I didn't answer the door, I didn't want my face involved with that scene, plus I had no productive information so, truly there was no real reason to answer the door. I'm not going on record as a possible snitch to those thieves working on that roof directly across from my home. I don't want to invite possible violation to my space...hence, I will not answer the door for various reasons, safety being a very important reason. I live low profile, incognito on purpose...less drama that way. |

Just a little info for the uninformed so they have something to fight with when the idiots show up at your door and start spouting all kinds of crap that you're supposed to take as gospel. They expect you to cower in the corner, and really freaks them out when you don't. The best part which I think you missed is it puts them on notice and in my experience they don't come back. |
