OP, tried all the natural stuff that we like to push here but it didn't work for him so in what sounds like a last resort he went with Rituxan. It seems to be working for him and thats all that really matters.

Rituxan can cause institutial pneumonitis in some people.... spelling..

Anyway, you need to google this and be aware of the symptoms.

If you have shortness of breath that is the first sign. Over time it will completely attack your lungs and kill you, without treatment....if you in fact have institual pneumonitis...

The Dr will want to do all kinds of tests to rule out everything else and place you on oxygen. They will order blood work that will take days to get back, they will want to do a brondoscope procedure, which if they give you too much lidicaine will cause a heart attack. saw this happen. Also, they don't retrieve back all of the water they put in your lungs for this test, and your breathing will get worse after the procedure. saw this happen too.

Then, after your levels have gotten so bad, as to where it is virtually irreversible to the point you can't even sleep, or remove the oxygen to eat they will finally say we think you have institual pnemontis, and then they begin treatment. This is what they did to my dad... The treatment is high dose prednisone.

Rituxan killed my father. They never gave him the treatment for the disease; until he was almost gone. Then, one day before they decided he needed to be in the ICU he finally began treatment for the institual pneumonitis. It was too late then.

We googled everything in regards to shortness of breath, and didn't find anything until he actually got the diagnosis. I want more awareness out in regards to this lung disease, because if caught in time it can be reversed. They say it is rare, though, staying in the hospital for two weeks non stop, and talking to numerous people, many were in there with breathing problems from the cancer drugs. Others had the "rare" institual pneumonitis....

Just want you to be aware of the institual pnemontis so you can demand treatment for it, if you start having a hard time breathing. Doctors procrastinating like they did with my father; killed him. Rituxan stays in your system for months to a year I believe, so even if you start having problems months from now, be aware and seek the right treatment. I am happy you are doing better. Just want you to know about the Rituxan....also, if you all of a sudden have your body start shutting down, can't walk, etc... high dose prednisone will reverse this too.
