I had that problem too until I learned the secret. Put the eggs and water in and bring to a boil. The minute the water comes to a boil...turn the heat off. Set the timer for about 12 to 14 minutes. When the timer goes off run them under cold water and let them sit to cool. Voila perfect boiled eggs.

yeah, finally got in....apparently they got a pic from AZ of some aurora....i wonder if i missed it. I live in Henderson, NV...hoping i'll get a chance to see something tonight.

Gavin, do you think there is a chance North America might see auroras tonight? We are at least 7 hours till sunset in my time zone.
I was really hoping for some sky watching tonight, but its sounding like the action will be over before midnight (eastern time or UTC -4).

What I am seeing on the magnetometers that GOES does not show is the deviation from the normal compass direction, and for the andenes station it just took a swing -2 deg Easterly (or 2 deg Westerly if you will), meaning your compass will be off 2 deg from the normal magnetic north direction.

Can confirm....just got out of a meeting in Maine. Flat screen TV was all over the place with brightness.

No, intensity is continuing to build, per any graph I've seen.

It is not over yet as we still have hight velocity and dense plasma, and the field is swinging actively.

But in terms of instant doom, it is over, yes :-)

I'm pretty sure the wavier of the lines the higher the doom level, but I could be wrong

the bigger cme past a few hours ago. We have a G2 storm ongoing but subsiding every moment.
And its daylight.
Anyways, could still get auroras in the as far south as Wyoming tonight.
If we are lucky.

Not everyone live in the US. Sun just went under the horizon here and it is clear. :-)

I'm hopeful for you. I haven't seen auroras in years. When I was kid in Northern Canada you would see them every year.

Thanks. I saw a hint of it in Oslo 2 years ago, but where I live not since 2003. There has been though, but been overcast...

We're getting a new round of denser plasma, but the field is very northernly right now, so not much chances of snapbacks (if I understand it right)

Simulation is showing closed loops, which are not good, but it is still 20 minutes behind realtime.

EDIT: strike the denser plasma, I was reading the graph wrong. Both speed and density dropping fast.

EDIT again: We had a significant spike in density and it is now dropping back to the previous storm level. (sorry about the confusion) Speed is only slightly down (scale changed).
