Could we have a list of those who voted the other way so that I can send thank you notes? Last Edited by TheExPatrioticGirl on 09/14/2014 06:19 PM It's all fun & games until the Dogman stands up Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy Shit! Phillip J. Fry User ID: 49911340 United States 09/14/2014 07:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | HERE ARE THE CLEAR IRREFUTABLE FACTS: The U.S. Supreme Court has made it very clear that Quoting: Anonymous Coward 59072179 1) Treaties do not override the U.S. Constitution. 2) Treaties cannot amend the Constitution. And last, 3) A treaty can be nullified by a statute passed by the U.S. Congress (or by a sovereign State or States if Congress refuses to do so), when the State deems a treaty the performance of a treaty is self-destructive. The law of self-preservation overrules the law of obligation in others. When you've read this thoroughly, hopefully, you will never again sit quietly by when someone -- anyone -- claims that treaties supersede the Constitution. Help to dispel this myth. "This [Supreme] Court has regularly and uniformly recognized the supremacy of the Constitution over a treaty." - Reid v. Covert, October 1956, 354 U.S. 1, at pg 17. Here's what Thomas Jefferson said on the right to renounce treaties: "Compacts then, between a nation and a nation, are obligatory on them as by the same moral law which obliges individuals to observe their compacts. There are circumstances, however, which sometimes excuse the non-performance of contracts between man and man; so are there also between nation and nation. When performance, for instance, becomes impossible, non-performance is not immoral; so if performance becomes self-destructive to the party, the law of self-preservation overrules the law of obligation in others". Source: [link to www.sweetliberty.org] So what was the point of the vote? Republicans hoping you don't know the Constitution can't be trumped. Try to score your loyalty vote with no real skin in the game? And knowing the Democrats won't bother to read it, and be able to comprehend it's a trojan horse? . "Don't do anything that affects anything. Unless it turns out you were supposed to do it, in which case for the love of God. Don't not do it!" |

She also voted for the bailouts when the vast majority said no. Between her and Gov. Nixon they have done their best to destroy this once great state. The shills on here that say both sides are the same should take a good, hard look at this vote - because it doesn't get any clearer than that. "Be still, and know that I am God." Even if fake legislation passes, Constitution trumps treaty. “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” - Frank Herbert For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the blah, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” Romans 1:16-17 You can't defend your home with an iPod, gaming console, or nabi. |

Yes, the votes would probably have gone the same way if the 2nd was threatened, but it wasn't. The vote did happen, but an amendment to the resolution made it clear that the Constitution would supersede the resolution: Quoting: Fret Wiz [link to thehill.com] Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) offered an alternative amendment that clarified that under current U.S. law, treaties don’t trump the Constitution and that the United States should not agree to any arms treaty that violates the Second Amendment rights. His amendment passed by voice vote. |

Voters here in this state have been trying to get that worm out of office for a decade. Somehow he continues to get the votes to keep his ass living like a king. Both were black for Cedar rapids inner city. |
