Having withdraws from deleting FB account -
I'm an ENFP, a talker, a writer - I love social media. I've been able to make friends around the world - etc, the whole 9 yards. Yet I decided Facebook was evil. All the information they gather, I was quick to be secure on my privacy yet still it was...

Why?

So many women who come through here are like "DON'T SAY I WAS AT YOUR PLACE ON FACEBOOK" and I"m like.... wtf? Then the next night - it's like an "honor" to be tagged.

I'm a 30 year old male. As in, I was 29 last year so I'm the FB generation.

It's insanity. Every time I hang out with a girl it's "Oh, what should be my Facebook image?" and I have to pretend out of 30 photos using "filters" (shit, this one girl went to a professional modeling place for her FB photos - where she's a 10 on FB and a 6 in real life) -

and it just baffles me. It's horrible for women, I believe, it preys on humans wanting to "belong" the likes and shares and comments are like a nicotine addiction of drip drip drip, esp for those insecure or young woman insecure -

I mean, if YOU PUT YOUR IN A RELATIONSHIP ON FACEBOOK - IT'S A BIG DEAL.

So It's been two weeks now since I deleting my Facebook - I've gotten laid more in the last two weeks than I have two months; yet I find my self just holding my cell phone. Texting people at 1am just to "chat" -

It's.... insanity.

If no one can say they can't relate they are a liar or have not deleted their FB account for more than one week.

This isn't a troll thread so stfu.

I'm being sincere. Mask the fact you have a Facebook and have never tried. It's like cigarettes.

Go on, stop it.

Once I've... examined it. Who is she with tonight? Who is he with? Why are they so happy? The person who bitches all the time? The person who always posts the funny memes - the "Mommy Blogger" - etc etc -

It's weird. I do articles for NFL and I use Facebook fan pages to find the "super fans" (you know, the ones that have been to every game for 12 years straight and wear the whole make up and stuff) - and yes it's been fun yet, I swear.

Facebook is weird when you stop it. It's like ending an addiction, I swear to you.

The other day I was standing on the street with my mom and daughter. This gust of wind blows hard, and all the trees that stand along the street create this beautiful rain of brown red leaves cascading down, literally leaving ppl standing on the street stopping what they are doing and looking up in awe. Here I am with my baby girl in hand and my mom beside witnessing 3 seconds of sheer beauty and I think to myself ..... Will I have enough time to whip out my phone and get a pic of this for FB?..... WHAT THE FUCK. And Im a totally fucking nature loving hippie. What the fuck is wrong with me, and society?! Because I know everyone else has these same demented thoughts now when a precious moment comes apon them. Our present moments have been stolen from us......time to deactivate....

I can't believe it's 4am already heh.

All over women, too. Basically. Seeing what other toys men bought too.

It's insane, I wish I was born in the golden age of America.

Facebook addiction is real. I'll stay strong and stay off it, yet I've got to learn to stop just texting people to talk - since I"m so use to FB just "sharing it" or "Likeing it" and scrolling the endless "Are these song lyrics about me?" or "Wait, we did hook up last weekend, does this mean - she thinks I"m..." or even "Fuck, you mean Jeremy bought a new fucking truck?"

It's... hard, esp. when you live in a small town, you know, 40,000.

Yeah, I live a lone, work a lone, and was an only child.

Yet I have a good income, truck, and my own place - and honestly, I'm pretty good looking.

So I do go out - yet I want to find a woman I can connect with - something, I don't know maybe it's the time of year - primal, ain't that spiritual yet as they say in my part of the woods -

Just weird. Yes, I'd rather be a man and call - you are correct. It's the "lonlieness" I feel from deleting it, since at least at 1am or 4am still see an endless stream of "news" in your "town" -

and I'm big picture guy, I can't stand women who talk about other.. women - yet, ugh -

LOL, it's a detox. I swear to God. Go on. Delete your FB. See if you make it.

Re: Having withdraws from deleting FB account -
I left fb in May. Spent way too much time on there. Yes totally miss how easy it was to talk to people. I have a large family and fb made it easier to keep in touch.

I joined and started posting about 5 years ago when my son went in the the army. It was an easy way to keep him up to date with everything that was going on at home.

I met a great deal of people through the military moms groups. When our kids left basic we all got together for a meet and greet.

It wasn't until I got bored one day and started playing those stupid games that I realized I spent way too much time on it. Since I am a housewife I could and did spend a good part of the day on fb.

When I left I totally went through withdrawal. It was awful. Plus I had people texting me constantly asking me to comeback to fb. I had one person ask me to text her daily status updates.

I greatly disliked how fake everyone was on fb and yet I still miss those phony "I'm happy and have a wonderful life" status updates.

I get where you are coming from, from a certain point. I Deleted my first account about 4 years ago. Made another account with a fake name like 3 months later to keep in contact with some family and friends, Deleted that one about 6 months ago. Then made yet Another one with my whole name again, and realized it is one of the dumbest social media sites around. I made it to get back in touch with cousins, and family that live out of state and some good friends. It was a pointless attempt to "connect". FB has gotten so fucking annoying. People are brain dead addicted zombies. I deleted it 4 weeks ago, and for good this time. If anything, it was making me angry reading the fake ass posts from people i know about shit they didn't really do. Turning people into complete narcissists obsessed with themselves and how many likes they get when they post about the dinner they created out of thin air in 10 minutes. Or the selfie of them and their kids at the grocery store buying oreos. I see people at work on FB, people walking around on fb, shit probably driving on FB. I sold back my iphone to atnt, bought a cheap phone and removed all social media from my life, except GLP of course lol. Next week i'm ditching the smart phone and getting a flip phone with no internet as well because i'm tired of paying $150 a month for 2 phones. fuck social media, just another way to dumb down the masses....and stimulate their brains with garbage. seethis1

OP, I have to burn you on this one. Looks like the fakery of FB has got to you. You don't write like someone who is educated enough to call themselves a writer for the NFL. I know GLP is a very informal forum but for someone who calls themselves a writer, I call BS.

Nevertheless, it's a good thing you're no longer on FB, wasting precious time and burning brain cells - at least what's left. Yes, the old PSA ad that was popular before your time, showing the raw egg frying in the skillet indicating, "This is your brain on drugs" would be most appropriate today for SM users.

I have a FB account under an alias, so I am somewhat safe. my RL friends now how to find me. It's convenient for me to chat with them during the day time hours because I am not allowed to have a cell phone inside of the building where I am at those hours. It serves a small purpose. I've heard about stories like that and it's pretty nuts that people take that way too seriously. They must live in a shallow world or something.
