Why do people feel the need to advertise Coke, Pepsi, beer, places and politics on their clothes?

I actually have a hard time finding a ball cap or a tee-shirt with no advetisment all over it.

I hate it! Keep your views to yourself!

People are walking advertisements for what their views are.

Why? Don't you ever want to keep your views to yourself?

Why wear advetisements on your body on clothes you paid for!

People are nasty.

yeah - I refuse to pay money to be some mega wealthy corp's free advertising

besides, I would feel exceedingly tacky wearing any advertising clothing

I don't even think I own a t-shirt anyway - not my style

Oh, if you hate that, you'll loathe this. A few years ago at the store where I work, we were selling shirts that said "Property of (Store Name)." All I could think was, who the hell would buy a shirt that labeled them as some company's property?

I'm happy to report that they did not sell well. Gave me a tiny little bit of faith in humanity.

People will wear anything if it is given to them free.

I see them wearing corporate billboards for pop, cigarettes, beer, booze, bars, cruises, anything!

Then you see those fools wearing the most embarrassing so called "jokes".

As I said, people are nasty.

I refuse to wear the "spirit wear" stuff schools sell, unless I really love the school.

just working there is not a reason to wear their name on my clothing.

I'm with you OP.

my body is not a billboard.

Re: Does anyone else have a problem with wearing billboards on their clothes and tee-shirts?
I remember the last new car I bought in '05. Right before closing the deal and signing the contract, I told the sales rep I would not have the dealers badge on my car unless the dealer wanted to pay me $50.00 a month in advertising fees. He balked so I told him to get the GM. He balked too until I said fine I'll take my business elsewhere and got out of my chair after handing the signing pen back to him. He said ok and instructed them to remove the dealer's badge from the trunk. 10 minutes later they again tried to stall saying they'd damage the paint if they removed it. I did get my car without their free advertising but it took sticking to my guns. hf

I had this same realization some years ago.

I have two shirts with designs on them and a slew of white t-shirts.

I do not like to pay for a shirt and give free advertising either.

It is almost impossible to find a ball cap that doesn't have some team or sport logo on it. I refuse to wear someone's views on my body.

I was wearing a yellow and black sweatshirt and some fool still asked me if I was a fan of (some unknown college team). Just because of the damn colors.

Why not learn to keep your views to yourself? Why must people always tell everything about themselves in the first 2 minutes that you meet them?

People should learn to keep their lives private. You would think that a GLPer would know that.

I've never worn advertising clothes. I never understood the appeal. I'd wear them if the companies wrote me a check but why adverise for free?

Freedom of speech! I; however, do not advertise for corporate multi-nationals.

I am not involved in social media what-so-ever either.

Remember when vandals broke the hood ornament off Super Nintendo Chalmers's car? He said. "That's how people know it's a Honda!".

That's why people wear the advertising, so that other people know just how good that stuff is!!

Exactly. I've had people tell me they'll only wear name-brand merchandise because they don't want people thinking "I shop at Wal-Mart." It's all about image and proving that you're a somebody to people who don't care, but desperately need you to know that they are a bigger somebody.

The only shirt that I will wear that has a logo or product on it is if it's a product from my industry that was given to me by a customer or a manufacturer. I would never buy shirts with advertising on them for me or my kids. People are fucking stupid.

Society wants to know too much about me and my life already. Why should I advertise my views on tee shirts, ball caps, bumper stickers and backpacks?

I don't have any desire to tell others about MY life. It is none of their business.

For something really important like anti-nukes, I will wear the shirt, proudly.

Definitely no big brand names, logos, crap like that though.
